:help: I have brand new 3.55's in the box from ford and was wondering, Just doing research before I think about spinning the tires......If it gets to the point that one wheel spins and the other sits what is dammaged? Will a new set of 3.55's cure that problem? If not can some one tell me what causes that issue and what the fix is and cost associated with it. Dont know anything about rear axle's and would appreciate some enlightenment.
Thanks,
Mike

If you are suffering from "one wheel peel" your posi is toast.
This is an inexpensive (relatively)fix.
thier are rebuild kits available from Ford for less than $50.00 + new oil and labor.

Cool....Not that I want to have this problem but when I order my tune in a couple of weeks I want to know that if I get a little to excited with the go pedal what costs are going to be associated with it.......boy I want that tune so bad I can taste it....

SID, unless you only make right-hand turns, or frequently drive with one rear tire a different diameter than the other, the Traction-Lok clutches shouldn't wear to the point that you become a peg-leg. Rock on...

What ^^^^he^^^^ said. Gears rarely go unless something else inside went south (i.e. bearings, seals) or they were not set right from the start.

good....so unless I do a lot of doughnuts I have nothing to worry about exept the tread life of the new tires which are sitting in my storage unit right now...I have always been affraid to spin the tires for the reason of getting the one wheel spin going....so now the question becomes what I should do with the 3.55's save them for a rainy day, sell them or trade them for something.

A traction-lok rebuild kit is only around $45 on Summit, and includes all new clutches, shims and Friciton Modifier. The part number is M-4700-B. Here is a how-to on replacing them yourself: http://www.redpulsar.us/~coldfusion/tlok.html
I'm not sure what the general consensus is for gear oil here, do most of you run 75w-140, 80w90, other?
