Sorry about the short notice on this.
For anyone that's interested, the Milwaukee Road #261 steam locomotive is pulling another excursion on Saturday September 9th and Sunday September 10th to celebrate Wayzata's annual James J. Hill Days. There will be two trips per day departing from the Depot in downtown Wayzata, 11:00 am and 2:30 pm. The morning trip will depart Wayzata and travel to Northeast Minneapolis and return and the afternoon trip will depart Wayzata and travel to Howard Lake and return.

Tickets to ride the train can be purchased at the Depot in Wayzata, 402 East Lake Street, Wayzata, MN 55391 or from the 261 web site http://www.261.com
Weather permitting, some of us will be chasing the train and photographing and/or video taping the afternoon trip on Sunday September 10th. If you would like to chase with us, we would meet somewhere near the Depot around 2:00 pm to see the locomotive up close, then try to catch it as various grade crossings along the way. I know finding parking spaces near the Depot will be difficult. If anyone knows the area and wants to suggest a meeting place, please feel free to reply. Or maybe a meeting somewhere for lunch then drive to the Depot. Suggestions please?
Also, see jdando's post on the previous steam train excursion in late July.
