Dont worry, its not for the Marauder, its for the Cadillac.

I am looking for whitewalls that are 1.5"-2" wide. I dont want the really wide white walls that cover the whole tire, and I dont want the really thin whitewalls that are readily available everywhere. I havent been able to find the width I want and have looked everywhere that i can think of.....any suggestions on where to look?

I concur ..... (http://www.coker.com/store/customer/home.php)

Coker Tire (http://www.coker.com/store/customer/home.php) should be able to hook you up with just anything you desire. When you reach for your wallet ... better grab the vaseline too tho, as they are rather pricey ... esp if you take them up on their offer to make a custom size tire for you.

I was originally going to do whitewalls on my 72 Toronado when I got it .....

Using the whitewall width that was commonly found on the big Toros & Eldos in the mid-late 70's when they came off the assembly line ... as seen on the pic of this 78 Eldorado from Ebay below. I was going to do a custom made size on the tire width(wider) & diameter(245/70/15) ... but after doing the math(@ $200-$300 per tire) I just couldn't justify the cost.

It was a shame ... as I really like these cars with the whitewalls. The WW's just are just so naturally right at home on them ... as long as they are the CORRECT width ones.

:pimp:

If they're not the correct width ... all bets are off. If you're gonna kick it old school & be a :pimp: ... you either do it right or you don't it at all ;).

So ... I went with the RWL Radial TA's instead, which I feel look pretty good & unique. They are 255/70/15's which is what a lot of the 1st Generation 66-70 Toro guys have used for the advantage of the extra width & improved handling ... rather than a 235/75 or a 235/70.

Our stock wheels are unique to these cars & are only 6 inches wide ... so we are pretty limited, even the width of the 255 is kind of pushing it. The 255 IMHO is also a bit taller than it really needs to be for these cars ... which is why I was going to do the custom 245. The 245 height IMHO ... would have been just right, with the healthy correct width whitewall. The whitewall would sort of give the illusion that there was way less sidewall than there actually was. When you look at these 255's up close ... there's just no denying or getting around the fact that you are looking at a LOT of sidewall. Stil a much better choice than the called for 235/75 or a 235/70 tho. My Toro had 235/75's on it when I got it ... the 255's were a nice improvement to the handling.
