Has anyone had any troubles with their coil packs other than me? I have had the car for about 5 months and shortly after I took delivery I noticed that it seemed to miss in the 30-40 mph range. Took it to the dealer they said one of the coil packs was bad so they replaced it under warranty. That was at 35,700 now I am at 50,028 and I think it is starting to do it again. So today I went online to www.lfp.com (http://www.lfp.com) (Lightining Force Performance) and ordered a new set Granatelli Motorsports Coil packs for 399.00 which is half of what most other sites were offering. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated:banana:

I had to have one replaced. the one nearest the fire wall on the passenger side. Lots of water gets in tehre and it fried that one coil. Replaced and sealed up, so far so good....

Not yet @ 41K here.
I met a fellow from that Company last year, at Byron Dragaway.
I think he claimed to be owner or president.
I have a card with the names Mark Silvestri and Jessie Sims 281-385-5339
He was a great Guy, he told me about World Ford Challenge in St. louis.
I saw his wife there and bought a T-shirt from her! Nice People!

$400.00 for coil packs   There was a few group buys previously for less than $150.00, I believe. I didn't have any problems with my factory packs but I upgraded to the GMS ones. The MM seems to idle a little better.

The OEM coils are ~$50.00 ea.

Maybe you're thinking of the connectors/boots minus the packs?

The Granatelli connectors/boots were about $90.00 when I purchased mine on a group buy months back.

Hmmm...I've racked up about 100K miles over 3 Marauders now, and not one coil pack problem. There have been a few other stories posted here, but nothing wide spread.

I am sure if we wanted to entertain a GB on this upgrade, we could manage a better price than what's been mentioned, but thanks for the tip.

Eric,

Good talking with you over the phone. Hope I gave you some insight to this forum?

Is this not the correct link to what we discussed?

http://lightningforceperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_in fo&products_id=307

Can anyone tell us if this is the correct kit for our cars? The boots look different than what we have in our MM's.

Looks like a decent deal, but group buys are always better.

Eric plans on installing these and detailing driving experience after the install.

Mike.

How about y'all talk about the product and not the price and where you got it, in deference the the very supportive vendors we have here on the site that have access to the same product. Without their sponsorship and the benefits they bring to our ownership of this car, where would we be today? If you got a good deal? Good for you. Posting products/pricing that is in direct competition with our vendors, with no benefit to the website from the competitors....well....I'll let you figure it out.

Agreed...

I saw about 4 Ford Master Techs cuss, scream, laugh and throw some aftermarket coil packs across the shop last week when they were trying to install and use some of these "new-fangled" coil packs on a high RWHP Marauder last Saturday @ Team Ford....they put the stock ones back on and said the aftermarkets were J-U-N-K. For what it's worth...

Thanks Mary, you are 100 percent correct. Our vendors here deserve the first crack at a GB on a specific product.

Mike.Mike, I looked over the link, and I don't know what to say. It appears that the blue boots are for/from another application, maybe 2V SOHC engines where the coil pack is not inside the valve cover. Can't say if they are too long, or too short, our boots are specific for the 4V application with coil covers that secure them in place. But, it's listed under '03-'04 Mustang Cobra, so, guess we'll just have to wait for Eric to report.

The text in "product description" is the same text from the Granatelli home page, so, it just may be that a generic pic was used on this page too.

BTW, there is one other difference we will trip over, and that is the wire connector from the harness to the coil pack. Our "internal" packs are again different due to their "internal to the valve cover" mounting.

Good luck, Eric!
