OK, Ford's losing money, shutting factories, laying off thousands, paying buyouts to anyone that'll take one, then this comes along?

Does that mean it'll now be called a Ford Mini Cooper?

That's a Euro model. Has been getting built since the 60's.

Ford Mini Cooper ? No, unfortunately.
No, because the owner of Mini since the split up between Rover and BMW is...BMW. Unfortunately, because Mini is a BIG source of profits for its owner.

They simply bought the Rover name to protect resale value when they sell the entire Land Rover division. This has already been talked about before on several occassions in the Automotive News and was an expected move.

Hey hey hey, FPV is awesome. They've been around for some time too. They got some nice vehicles.

Now how can you own the Rover name in its entirity and NOT own Mini, a Rover classic since the early 1960's? Well, Rover most recently anyway (before that, Austin, Morris & British Leyland).

Because BMW already made mini it's own company. Probably why they kept the rover name when they sold the land rover in 2000 (then the mini came on the scene in 01). BMW knows how to play the game, and they play it well

Rice? Man that's Aussie muscle! They may look a bit like ricers but those are rear wheel drive Sedans and Utes with 6 or V8 power. Remember the new GTO? That is a made over version of GM's performance Sedan from down under. Down there it is a Holden Monaro. These cars are its direct competition there. Those Ford Falcons are great cars. I wish they would sell some here. They would beat a Five Hundred or Fusion hands down.

Please explain what is rice about a 5.4 DOHC V8, if you are referring to the turbo inline 6 I still don't see what makes it rice.

This is odd. I do not uinderstand Ford these days. I had heard tale that they were going to sell Aston Martin, Jaguar, or Land Rover to make up for lost revenue.

I do not understand FORD, either.

There is obviously a demand from the market for V8 cars. I see that Dodge and Chrysler do offer AND sell such cars. So I am wondering for a while why the "Five Hundred" (a good car with a frigid-bean counter design) is not yet offered with a V8. This car uses the base of the VOLVO SUV. And that VOLVO SUV is sold with a V8...
