Say you have 2 1969 Road Runners. One has a 383 with a 4 speed manual the other with a 440 with a 3 speed auto. Is it possible to switch trannys with no problem is it more difficult than that?

Bell housing should be the same but may have to update the flywheel. The 383 is exterally ballanced and I believe the 440 is intereally ballanced. But everything else should basically bolt right in.

Don't forget a tranny cooler, the former manual car won't have one.

The former auto will need all the clutch linkage installed, no big deal if you have it. You may need a new bell housing, as in that era there were different castings for Chrysler blocks. Mine was a Magnum, which was a little taller than standard. Not sure if the holes on the back were the same though. If you swap radiators at the same time, the trans. cooler issue is solved.
