I'm a big Nova fan BUT...
Needs a big motor...454 alittle on the gay side. :-)
Vinyl top? I don't think so.
The wheels I like but not on that car, needs shiny wheels...Weld ProStar or the newer Cragers with mini tubs.
If you buy it, you have to lower it.

Otherwise its perfect!

Mike:

I like the slick top cars, but the vinyl has grown on me. Triple black is the way to go! That car needs the vinyl roof.

I am so over shiny wheels. If anything I would keep the Americans on it or put the steel wheels on it. Better yet, I would keep a set of both wheels with tires mounted up and then I could switch them around as I felt like it.

A 454 is gay? An LS6 at that. I think not!

So, is this Giraffe knees, nuts, or neck?

I am at the point of thinking that the giraffes just don't matter anymore!

To me, the 3rd generation Nova hardtop coupe was the best car Chevy ever made. This is my old car; I sold it three years ago for $16,700. (I had a LOT more money in that car, of course. Oh well! Now I have a Marauder. :))

It turned 12.2 1/4 miles on street tires (drag radials).

Buy it Martin - that's as close to period perfect as you are going to get!

My '68 Cougar XR-7 had a black vinyl top and they do grow on you.

Buy it and enjoy it!

You can have all the nova's...I owned a couple and they all had issues with front ends...rear ends...etc etc...also when you jacked up the front end on the 65 2 door post...if the doors were open-you could not shut them...if they were closed you could not open them...put 2 front ends (bushings and such) under the 65...they are why I do not own chevy's...along with a 72 chevy truck...rust rust rust...broke crank...clutch...rear end (did I mention chevy rear ends?!?!)...and also 77 caprice...rear end...wore out cam at 60,000 miles...looks like I would have learned quicker...willie

I had a 69 Nova.
Metallic Green, Black Vinyl roof.
250 straight six and a 2 speed automatic.

I spent 9 months working on that car.
Got the money up to put insirance and plates on her.
It was stolen the first night I put it on the street.

It was ticketed in the south Bronx that very morning
for being parked on the wrong side of the street.

I never recovered the car.
It would have been nice to have it today.

I still long for my Dad's old Plymouth GTX. 440 cid, Holley 4bbl, cherry bombs. Ugly as hell but fast as hell. Stolen from the stadium parking lot when he took all the other neighborhood dads to a game in it.

I work with a guy that has one that has one been in his garage for over twenty years. He bought with 1300 mile on it and hasn't really driven it. It is in mint condition. He says it is part of his retirement. The closest he gets to driving it is having a beer in the garage and looking at it.

See, now that makes no sense to me. I enjoy driving my cars more than I do just looking at them.

I know and you know that it is better to drive these cars than to look at them. I kid him everyday and tell him that I will double what he paid for it. He paid $1300 for it.

I have to say as the years go by Id rather have a nice 69-70 Nova than my old favorite, a 67 Chevelle. They just seem to look meaner over the years.

eventually........it s always in the garage and he s not around much..

May not be 2 doors, may not be triple black, may only have a small block, but still smokes those skinny tires :D

Marty, you and I can have some loooong conversations since, aside from the MM, this is the car I know the most about. :D

Let's put it this way, I can't concentrate! :D

A friend of mine is going to pick the car up at 5:30 p.m. and I am on pins and needles.

The seller is a great guy and he is giving me some steel wheels and dog dish caps to go with it. Also he gave me an old school Rotunda tach for the Belvedere which I am happy about too. Those things are high dollar and he gave it to me so that is cool. It will work perfect in the Belvedere.
