OK, I can certainly explain why I hate certain teams. It's been obvious for years.
I hate many more teams than I like.
Raiders: Bunch of convicts, historically. AND they have Randy Moss. See also: Cowboys. Add Browns this year but they aren't winning championships with their convicts so they aren't really on the list yet.
Cowboys: Bunch of convicts, historically, and now they have TO who brings all of the hatred on himself. That, and I had to watch the cowboys every SINGLE Sunday in the 70s/early 80s because they had enough money to buy TV time.
Vikings and Packers - see below.
Add to the list any team's fans that gains a following just because they win a super bowl - i.e. Patriot fans in Iowa. Yeah, that brand new hat still has the tags on it, pal, but I'm sure you've been a fan for decades. . . I like the Pats though, just not fair weather fans.
Now to the point of this rant. In Iowa for the past couple decades I have had to suffer through watching the Packers (henceforth to be referred to as the wankers) and the Vikings (henceforth to be referred to as the ViQueens) over the Bears games on TV. We are technically closer to MN than CHI, but not by much, and CHI is closer than GB. That said, I only ever got to watch the Bears when:
1) They played Monday night
2) They played against the ViQueens or the Wankers
3) One of them had a bye and the other played an AFC team and was on CBS so they could show the Bears on FOX "as a last resort."
Sunday the Bears are 4-0 and playing the Bills, so they are on the AFC network and listed as being shown in our local area. Huzzah! After two very long work weeks the one thing I can count on is relaxing and watching the Bears game on the HD - they are good this year, after all, and they are in the local listings.
In the early 3rd quarter the Bears are up 30-0 and I hear the announcer say "We'll keep you updated on this game but right now let's head over to a more competitive contest, New England and Miami." :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:
My jaw hit the floor. I think some food spilled out. I literally screamed at the TV, something like "AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" All those years I don't get to see "my" team because they are bad, and now that they are (too) good they CUT AWAY? I actually contacted the local affiliate as well as CBS Sportsline, for which I expect no response due to my liberal use of the words "morons," "nitwits," and signing it "sincerely, kiss my a$$."
Yes it was pretty darn childish, but after a very long two weeks I feel justified. Like anyone in IA gives a tinker's crap about NE and MIA. Seriously.
Watch me go postal on any Bears fan who shows up with brand new gear "but have been a fan for years." You take the good AND the bad when you're a true fan, me hearties.
That said, I have renounced my Cub fanhood ever since the Steve Bartman incident. Not because of him, but how they self-destructed afterward. I had been a Cubs fan since 1975, even through the Leon Durham thing (was actually at that game with my Aunt/cousins from San Francisco - how humiliating).
(OK, I'm still a Cubs fan, I just can't bring myself to watch baseball. At all. Since then.)
CBS. You made the list.
