As some of you may know, I will be entering the hospital Tuesday, October 17, for the first of two Total Hip Replacements. I expect to be in the hospital for three days or so and to recover at home for eight or nine weeks. Then on December 19 I will have the second hip replaced. This will be followed by a similar period of convalescence. I expect to be back on my feet, looking for work by late February.

I will keep you all posted as I go through this adventure.

Thanks

All the best Dan. My former golf partner has had 3 hip replacements. He is still playing and playing well. That is an ambitious schedule. Our thoughts and prayers, of course. My mom (86) had one replaced this summer and she is playing touch football already.....we maybe not quite but you would never know she had the surgery. Dennis:2thumbs: proper rehab is the key.

Just how many hips does he have?

I wish you best with the surgery.
Two hip replacement? Wow...

What you need more than prayers is the commitment to physical therapy and the ability to deal with the pain that will accompany that recovery.

My Grandpa Arron had a hip replacement last year. He was 99 years old.
He will be 100 this year, and although his mobility is limited by age, he recovered nicely and gets around well.

Good luck to you, and I look forward to your first post regarding your riding a bike.;)

Dan,

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery. Had a total knee replacement earlier this year and lucky me was back to work in one month. It was so nice not to have that pain, even immediately after surgery. So listen to your doctors, nurses and therapists and you'll be back on your feet in no time. Prayers up to the "Big Guy".

Dan, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Of course, Barb said, he just wants to stay home and watch Detroit win the World Series.

Tell you what though, you do that break dance for Darryl at the next Woodward cruise, and we'll be sitting next to him, watching.

Just one more thing: It was August a year ago they drilled those holes on my poor knee and pulled a new ligament through 'em and screwed the whole works together. Yesterday I went bird hunting ans slogged 5 miles through the sorghum and high grass on the darned thing, with nary a hitch. Do your follow up PT, and listen to what the orthopod tells you, and you'll be a new man.
