I just have to share this

These pictures were taken on Friday, October 14, 2006. Welcome to Sunny Buffalo, New York!

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/0/3/8/PA130944_thumb.jpg There is a very good reason it was NOT in the garage.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/0/3/8/PA130945_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=5535&c=) Over 3 1/2 FEET of snow fell. It was 33 degrees out and each additional inch of snow, packed down the stuff beneath it. I measure 2 1/2 feet, but A LOT more actually fell.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/0/3/8/PA130950_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=5536&c=) Well, that was 1 hour of shoveling that heavy ass crap out of the way.... And yes, it really is my DRAGCITY Marauder under the stealth white cover. (I'm glad i can laugh now)

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/0/3/8/PA130990_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=5537&c=) Just a few short, and tiring, hours later, behold! my Marauder and a clear driveway. Is THIS considered a MOD ??????

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/0/3/8/PA130964_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=5538&c=) This is my back yard, my Garage is to the right, and a 100 year old Maple tree is to the left... At 1:00 AM I heard limbs breaking off and striking the ground like morter rounds. I felt it prudent to get the Marauder out of the way... No damage done, but our poor old Maple took a bad hit.

This is just my yard. The ENTIRE Buffalo region was devestated by this fluke storm. We are without power, and likely will be until mid week. Almost all of the power lines are down and they have to rebuild them one-by-one.

Luckily, it is not too cold. No one has heat, unless they have a wood stove or fire place. I have a woood stove in the garage, but no chimney, so can't use it.

This has clearly been the most devestating thing to happen in our region, ever. There were only three deaths, one due to a tree falling on a poor soul.

All things considered, all is well. The roads were pretty much cleared by noon on Friday, and the sun came out and dried it up.

Today (Saturday) we are all dealing with the massive amounts of water from the melt. 50 degrees and sunny makes a lot of water, fast. We have no electricity, so sump pumps don't run, and basement flood quickly. I am fine here, but Mom & Dad-In-Law are not so lucky. Been bailing them out all day.

Funniest thing is, I had an old car battery in the garage. I charged it up with jumpers, brought it in the house and connected my auto power converter to it. I have been running my laptop and a small T.V. off it for 6 hours.

Sure cheered the kids up when they could watch a little T.V.

Have as much fun with this as you would like, but please, really, PLEASE......

S E N D C A N D L E S !!!!!!!!!!

I read that a quarter million people are without power and many will be for a long period as trees everywhere took down power lines. When my son was a student at SUNY Buffalo they used tunnels under the snow to get from the frat house to the street. Gods country for sure. A few snow flakes started falling on the windshield out of a sunny day many years ago now as we traversed Grand Isle. 30 Miles later we were totally stopped in a traffic jam as a foot and half of snow had fallen already and the NY Throughway was impassable and closed. A fairly common occurance in Northwestern NY. I really like Florida in the winter. Dennis:D

Well, your two fine US Senitors showed up, and pronounced the emergency ended, so everything should be OK by now.
I understand one of the fatalities happened when someone got between Sen. Schummer and a tee vee camera. :D

Bigdog, My Son keeps some fish, and they are cold. We have been submerging warm water bottles to keeep the temp up. He lost his Needle Fish. Had it for over a year and a half.

Sorry about posting snow pics do early.... I should have been banned!
