Price forcast for MM

This has been touched on before, but I am bringing it up some more. What do you people see in the near future for the prices of a MM? Will they get close to $10,000 for a (aprox) 30k mile car? I have seen them for $15k with 50k miles on them. I would like to buy a second MM in about a year and would jump on a car for $12k-ish with 30k miles on it. i paid more than that to have the one I got but, I just needed it ya know!:lol: What are the general thoughts out there??????

The value of the MM seems to be pretty good. Better then the CV/GM

twins. Seems as though they get popular now that people know they

exist. The one is my Avatar is my car on the Acura lot. It was there for a

week, they even show the buyers the laudry list of problems it had. Even with

there honesty, the car sold quick. I think my buddy said they sold it for 17,300.

Depending on who you listen to, Kelly Blue Book, or NADA, right now you should be able to pick one up, in good condition with average miles, for anywhere from $11.5K to $17.5K. If memory serves, around 2000, I was looking at 96 Impalas. Seem to remember $10K to $15k, which is probably about the same when adjusted for inflation. I figure in a year or so, should start finding some high mileage or rough bodied MM's for the $5K range.

Here's a Marauder Depreciation estimate based on an MSRP of $35K and a depreciation rate of 15% per year. That's my eyeball on it based on 3 years for a sample of one. These numbers would equate to a car in very good to excellent condiition with an average of 15,000 miles per year. Adjust off that for higher miles and lesser conditions.

If MMs start to increase in demand, we should see the rate of decline drop to 10% per year, then 5% per year. Optimally, it would be nice to see the curve flatten out and eventually start to rise again. If and how soon that might happen is anybody's guess. I ain't holdin' my breath while I have a chance to enjoy the heck out of it now. KBB puts my '03 MM at about $19,455 in excellent condition. The chart is pretty much on the mark for "retail" values.

I'm driving mine into the ground. :) If it breaks, I'll put a new block in it. Cheaper than a new car.

Or if for some reason I see the need for a new one (read: Challenger) I might hang onto this one as a project car.

I figure depreciation is only part of the story, but thanks for the chart nonetheless - it's interesting. The longer these are out there, the more chance of finding someone who doesn't know what one is, and finding a really good deal.

Of course, you are right. There is always more to the story. I believe that someone here (probably Mac) said that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. On the other hand, if you sell too far below the line for the age of your particular car (assuming that you have adjusted for its condition and mileage appropriately), you may be short changing yourself.

But like you ... I am gonna have this car a long time. In twenty years with a full tank of gas, it'll be worth at least $250. :rofl:

Wouldn't you think that the value would level off at some point or even rise slightly considering the small number produced, especially the 04 models?

I know the time of year and the location can affect the price. Here in Minnesota this time of year I'm sure you could pick one up cheaper than in the spring because of the rear wheel drive in winter driving.

Kelley Blue Book says the retail is closer to $20,510 in excellent condition. Plus whatever you think your improvements are worth. So yes, $17.4 K is definitely a "steal". Your mileage is only 2,000 miles over KBB estimates.

of course the MM will drop in value over the years, but IMHO some many years down the line the MM will be hard to find which could lead to the worth going up......either way if the car is worth $10.00 or a $1,000,000
it's one hell of a car.

Also, there are a few 04's comming of lease, so that could also lower the price a little now because the leasing companies just wants to sell the cars fast at auction.

This is one of the main reasons why I sought a Marauder from the moment they were introduced to the world.

I used to have a Mustang GT, but I found it totally impractical for a guy who's married with three kids!

A month ago I bought my 2003 Marauder 300A with 45k for $16,000 - and I got a good deal on it judging by the cars that have sold (and their associated prices/condition) over the past several months. I've been watching them for awhile and this one was the best deal I could find for that kind of mileage/condition.

A friend of mine just bought a different 2003 300A about six weeks ago - with 36,000 miles on it - for $19,000.

What I've typically seen in pricing used cars is a steep-flat-steep pattern. If 2003 Marauders started at $30,000 new then dropped at 3K/year they'd be at $18,000 now. Going forward I expect average prices to drop 1.5/year thru fall of 2010 (brings average to $12,000). Beyond that, a typical car starts losing value more quickly, but there is potential for Marauders to at worst stay flat at 10-12K or more likely uptick if they start being seen as collector cars. For example, 10 year old Impala SS's are priced higher now then they were a few years ago.

Yes, I am the seller.

I don't own the car, however. I'm helping my friend/boss sell it. He's way too busy with issues at work right now to deal with it, and since I'm a big Marauder nut, I don't mind helping him out with it.

Trust me, I'd be happy to buy this car if I had the spare cash sitting around. It's really a solid driver. It'd make a great second Marauder or a "daily beater" Marauder. (It's no beater, but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.)
