Do you have an XCAL2 or any other means to read an engine code?

Disconnect the battery for a minute, then plug it back in.
Also try your spare key.

Walt,

Where you at, and how many miles on her?

Either the starter is toast, the PATS system is screwed (light on top left of dash blinking) or the mechanical lock actuator in the steering column is broken.

Had the same problem try starting the car in nutral.

I give up...have ordered tow truck...(through AAA)
Oh, one thing was interesting...
I have Ford's "road-side assistance"...called them...real nice on phone, but....no towing service available for my area...:( ? a suburb of Memphis? Fastest growing county in Mississippi...and no towing service available...
So folks if you breakdown and call Ford...you better be slam in the middle of a major city...

Neutral safety switch? Would the trans shift into neutral?

See if the theft light on top of the dash flashes rapidly when the key is on. Could be a key fault.

Could be a shift linkage adjustment.

Possibly something with the chip in the key not communicating with the car?

If you have a volt meter, see if the starter is getting power.

I have a feeling the car has been towed.
Therefore at this point in the game it's a "SEE WHO GUESSES RIGHT WHEN WALT RETURNS" game.:P

My guess...

I have no guess. I have no clue.
I would have posted a question on the MM.NET.:D

Maybe the connection to the starter is no good. There is a TSB on it.

I hope I never have to see my Marauder being towed....

Good luck Walt, keep us posted.

I've tried almost everything y'all have suggested...still won't start...:(
Tow truck due this morning....
I'm really curious now...
I'll post the answer tonight when I return from the dealer...
I just love a good mystery...:D
Thanks again for all the help...Walt. (Architect)

Any 'click' when you turn the key?? Starter relay could be bad if not.

After 3 hours of work at dealer...problem fixed...
There is a wiring harness that runs from the right side of the engine compartment down to the transmission...
it had corroded so bad that connection was lost. Corrosion spot was above the transmission....in the middle of the harness...
Mechanic said he couldn't explain it...it was not near any water...like the a/c
condensate line...
he said it just made no sense to him....
Warantee paid for the whole thing...:D
I haven't had a chance to look it up in my wiring diagram guide yet...
Anyway it was a problem of such fantastic proportions that even this astute collection of comrades couldn't solve it....:D
Thanks again...

You know... this is a long shot but I would check the wiring harness that runs over the top of the transmission. It's probably corroded.

Edit: Oops... Looks like I posted to late! :coolman:

Hey Walt, I'm the other marauder owner you met at the dealership today. Glad you're back on the road. It was nice to meet a fellow MM owner so close to home. Tim

...

I miss Marauderchick. Sigh.

Seeing your post reminded me of the trip up to MVII and us trying to keep up with her lead foot.
