Remember Motion Industries circa late 60s, early 70s? In a way, they were to GM what Kar Kraft (Boss 429 Mustang and many prototype builds) was to Ford. They were located in Baldwin, Long Island not far from me. I used to see some of their street terror cars from time to time, but I never saw this:

I believe that there is a member here that has not posted in a long time who has some relation to the family that owned the Motion Shop in Baldwin.

They did indeed build some of the most feared cars on the street back in the day. I clearly remember having the doors blown off of my '68 Cougar by a dark blue Firebird on West Shore Rd. heading into Roslyn - passed me like I was standing still!

Wow, can you say Girrafe's nuts?

Baldwin ruled here in NY!

I always thought that the GSX's had the rectangular exhaust tips poking through the rear bumper...?:dunno:

I love those 455cid/500 ft-lb Buicks!

Years ago when I worked in the auto parts world ( :puke: ) One of my fellow counter guys had a 70 GSX.... wowser... I'm betting he still does.
I also had a friend who has since moved to NC that owned a beautiful 70 GS Stage 1 that ran 10's all day and would cruise all night.
That car convinced me to put my Grandma's Buick 350 into a 79 Cutlass add 3:73 gears and ohhh lalal that car was quick!
Yeah Buicks are cool. But I ain't got 500k plus to buy this one!

A half million dollar car on Ebay. Whoda thunk it. They can't get over 15K for 04 MM with low miles and LN condition. What are we thinkin? Big bucks down the road? With soy gas at about 79 octane for $9.00 a gallon and so many cars on the road that the road is a parking lot everywhere. we had better enjoy these cars today as the future does not look good for the motoring enthusiast. I know it was covered in another thread but that is one reason why there are lots of us here with a 65-73 muscle car in the garage or in storage someplace. Its funny but it seems to me most MM owners Ive met have pretty similar taste in old cars. And Ill argue the point a bit about the Marauders, I do think our MMs will be a collector car someday. Remember those 60's cars are 40 years old. Imagine what a mint condition Marauder will be worth in 2043. Yep, a long way off. But maybe 30 years ago you could buy that Boss 429 Mustang or whatever for $2-3,000. I myself passed on a 1970 Superbird for $6,000 once (couldnt afford it!). I think now is the time to scoop up one or two of these $12,000 unmodified Marauders and pickle them if you have the bucks and the place to keep them. I would if I had the $$.

An unmodified one, or is Reinhart, Trilogy, or Kenny Brown the next Baldwin or Yenko?

W/ time we forget the poor brakes, vapor lock, difficult cold start, bad sound systems, overhaul every 40K and the 1/4 mile in the low 14's to high 13's.

I will take my Marauder over any of them.

True, but that was the technology available at the time....

BTW: lowwwww 13's for a 455 GSX.

I couldn't agree more. I'm in the process of restoring a 1970 Buick Wildcat 2dr Hardtop that my dad bought new. That 455 has diesel like torque, moves that heavy car quickly.

Baldwin Motion Camaros and Novas were big stuff around the Chicagoland street racing scene, '67 through '70. Likewise Yenkos, but not in the same numbers. Seems the first draw was the lighter cars and shorter wheel base, then a choice between Baldwin, Yenko and Nickey. I worked at Nickey back then, saw some awesome building going on. BTW, longer wheel base made "wheelies" scarce, you'de be surprises what a street racer could earn "walking the stand", or, "jumping pop bottles" (standind up) for show alone.

Buicks never took off around here, ditto Pontiacs. Chevelles and Chargers were popular but too heavy and long for serious money racing. They made good and stylish tow cars.

The money went to the "compacts" of the day, big block Camaros, Novas, and Hemi-Challengers were the big money winners.

Oh so long ago, but memories I am pleased to nurture today. I don't think I'll be around to mount "antique" plates on my Marauder, but some luck guy will find it wrapped up in my garage...Hehehe..."Look what I found, WTF was he thinkin'?"

Carry on, gents...

Geez Mac, I was wondering what took you so long to check in on this thread!!
