"Why would you want to mess up the front end of your MM?"
I want to use it incase an idiot here in Toronto hits me.

I'd drop the guys at Sentina an e-mail. These have been used on Marauders in the past and apparently were a complete no-hassle installation. They'll write back to you, I'm pretty sure. If you are talking to them, find out if you get a better price on two. I'm still in the market for one. I want something to tie the front end of the kayaks off to. On the back I'll use the bike rack. Don't even open the can of worms again about why you are doing it. Keep it to yourself! :) LOTS of opinions will be offered on why you should or shouldn't. Personally, I like the look, and its functional, too. No more messing up the front bumper when I get double parked and have to move someone.

Wait...let me add to my previous post, alot of people do this in Toronto (happened to me on my GM) They would see an red light cut in front of you then slam the brakes, so he/she can get insurrence money and dammage my car.

I too like the look and functions I seen a pic on Wes's Marauder and I liked it.
I will phone them tomorrow and I might get two ;)

I want to use it incase an idiot here in Toronto hits me.It's your car, but I would think you'd be more likely to get hit from behind or from the side.
*EDIT* Boy, you guys can type fast... nevermind my comment above...
Another possible drawback is that black cars with pushbars often get mistaken for police cars, which can bring on issues of a completely different kind...I don't know how tolerant the RCMP is of that kind of thing; you might check with your local constabulary before actually installing it.

Peter, I'm not telling you NOT to do it, just advising you that people here in the US have had issues like I described above, and you should be absolutely sure you REALLY want to do this.

Yes i'm quite sure about it, I will ask if it is removable for car shows.

Peter, what I meant to say was that Camrys with pushbars are rarely mistaken for police cars simply BECAUSE of the pushbar. Large black 4-door sedans with pushbars can be and ARE mistaken for police cars, simply due to the presence of said pushbar, and you might want to be sure the local police aren't going to hassle you for it.
I dunno, maybe it's not an issue up north...

Add to potential police hassles the potential for having your car vandalized by non-police because they have a beef with the police.
It's one thing to drive down the highway and have cars move out of your way. It's entirely another thing to come back to your parked car and find it keyed or other damage.

They are pretty yucky. Maybe even yuckier than the Police Interceptor badge. Could come in handy if you ever needed to smash your (1 of 11,052 MM's) through a concrete barrier.

Don't Do It!!!!!!
Why......:o
Well, after the rain, snow, salt and other unwanted elements as well as barnacles start to attach and eat away on the bar. It will sure look nasty after awhile. You don't need that ugly thing in front of your "MM". But it is just my "TWO CENTS".

I'll use it in the winter....
Okay, on the negative side, think about it and picture the push bar in front of the front end. "UGLY" man!!. Think of the winter elements. Maybe its me, I can't go through puttiing on such a large object in the front bumber, only unless you are thinking of ramming the rear ends of ricers that are in front of youhttp://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evil.gif (javascript:void(0)):hotrice: NOW THATS COOL!!!!!!!

Hey Peter: On the "Plus" side. On three seperate occasions, and one of these in a small town, I've been badly double parked. In each case except the last I was in a vehicle that could easily push the offender gently out of the way without any damage to my car. once was with my old 1980 Grenada with the big chrome steel front bumber, the other with my dad's pickup. Sadly, in the case of the Grenada, which was mint, the offending car had not quite been so cared for. Even from within my cabin I could hear the rear bumper of the little Chevy disintegrating as I gently rolled him forward out of my way. Sadly, the third case was with the MM. With all of that darn plastic on the front, as gently as I pushed, the plastic got scuff marks. The push bar would have let me out without a scratch to the MM. Perhaps, and this is just a thought, but with the push bar it may be that people will think twice about double parking. If the guy has a pushbar, then he's likely got it for a reason. All of the "Looks Like A Cop" arguements, by the way, are moot with my MM. 18" polished aluminums, no antenae or such, its pretty tough to say I'm trying to immitate, or in any way look like a cop. And then there is still the canoe/kayak issue. Once they are loaded on the roof (stop gasping you fanatical detailers!) it will all make sense.
BTW: why $200 to install? Is this the installation kit, or just a local labour rate? I've heard that these install pretty easily at home.

PS: If I could find a simple, subtle pushbar like that of the Dukes, I'd have bought it already. I really like the understated, bridge-police style. Can still push with, or tie-off from it without the big gaudy looking "Police" type bar.

Let me know how you like it, how the install goes, and be sure to post some pics. Did you go steel or aluminum? I'd get the steely just so I could rework it down to shape and dims that I like. Honestly, I'd pay the $300 just for the prefabbed mounting hardware and rubber stripping.

I went with steel, they said it would charge an extra 200$ so I'm getting the basic one.

I guess you havent seen too many SUV's in front end collisions where the push bumper folds back and now you have to go for a grill, header panel and maybe a hood from a impact that may have only costed you a front bumper.

I get hassled regardless. Factory 18's and the flat faces 16's don't matter. I decided not to cause it makes the car longer and I already had people clip my car parked in the parkinglot. I'm still trying to get back on my feet from the premium and rental.

Yeah IIRC, the site gave him so much shat about it, i'd take it off too to fit in to the only mm.net site.

I drove a dark blue '99 Crown vic for over 100k miles with the Setina aluminum pushbar on the front. I definately got more respect on the road than I do now with the blue marauder without the pushbar.
In the 4 years I drove it, as a private citizen, the only hastle I got was 1. Crossing the Canadian border, US side always asked a lot of questions. 2. One time a lady who was an incompentent driver was displeased that I drove around her in a parking lot while she continued to wait for someone to leave. She threatened to call my department and complain (good luck since I'm not a cop).
The one big advantage I found after I took it off, there's a lot less windnoise with it installed than without it.
The one problem it had, the powder coating would chip off the crossmembers & I had to repaint it often to keep it black.
Good luck with yours, don't get pulled over by an actual cop.
I will agree with you on that. Big black vehicles, especialty the "CVLX", GM, and the "MM" due have a presence of being "UNMARKED" cars on or off highways and streets. Pushbars due bring problems along the way. But if people like to put them on. I know I won't. There's really no need for them to be put on the front ends of these cars.
