I got her down to 14.4 this weekend (finally learned to launch!)
The list of mods is here http://www.magindat.net/marauder.htm
I'd like only to hear from those who are runnin under 14 NA. Please share what you've done to break 14.00.
I'm not a REAL drag racer. I only do it for fun. However, I do want to EARN my fancy helmet at 13.99!!!!!

14.03 for me, stock gears and TQ conv. Many here have slipped into "helmetdom" with 4.10's and a tune.
I ran a 13.54 N/A before going Supercharged. Also I ran under 14 second in all weather conditions and attitudes. You need a torque converter and exhaust to make a big leap. I have a set up U/D pulleys for sale. Oh, your link doesn't work.

Got the TC, 4.10's and cat-back exhaust.
Next may be cobra manifolds/headers or shorty headers.
I really need help deciding.

Great Rich!
I got to 14.2@97 with the regular bolt ons 4:10s, tune, CAI, pullies, Intake spacer.

I have Ford Corba shorty Header and ran pretty good with them N/A and Supercharged. Kooks for Stainless Steel works would be a good path also. It's all about money. The Denso IT-20 Plugs (Reinhart), not worth the money, go with a Cooper Core plugs. When I was N/A I used Autolite plugs for under 2 dollars. Oh, the street tire you have suck on the track. What's your 60 ft times. You need to be at 2.0 or below. Oh, I never used a intake spacer or a race gas tune.

I have Ford Corba shorty Header...
How hard were the Cobra shorties to install? Was it hard to clear the steering linkage? I think I'd rather shorty headers (for torque) than long tubes moving my power up the rpm band.
I drove Blackmobile's car and I can definately feel the toque difference with his Cobra manifolds. However, if I'm gonna spend, I'd rather real headers.
Is it the 96-04 headers that fit?

I already have a custom cat-back with a custom H pipe and I really love the sound.
I know lots of folks are happy with the Kooks, but I'm just not a big fan of how it sounds.
For an NA car, I think all I have left (bolt on-wise) is the headers.....

I see 99-02 Cobra DOHC headers out there. Is that right? Do the ports line up?

Check the Timeslip Page and scroll down the Induction column looking for the N/As on the 2nd page
#43 .... CRUZTAKER ran a 13.27@102.28 in October 2004 at Mason-Dixon Dragway. I was there to see that one.
#33 .... JOE WALSH ran 12.938@104.58 at Capitol Raceway (I think) just recently. He's N/A but he's got a Forged 5.0 Big Block vice the 4.6L DOHC.

Headers, TQ converter, gears, intake and above all a good tune can get you well into the 13's. Good tires are helpful as well.

UDs go on tomorrow and Saturday is my first dynotune since my exhaust, CAI, and UDs went on, so I expect to pick up a tenth or two. If I don't, I'll be a bit miffed.

My last run was N/A with no mods and ran a 15.7 or 15.6 and I added a JLT and ran a 15.5, When I get the tune....will I be in the 14's....?
I would be happy with that for a while.....

Guess headers is the consensus. That's about the only bolt on that's left.

See sig for my mods.... I've run 14.5's all day long. Need to install the PI torque converter and Mustang shorty headers and custom H-pipe, high flow cats and Magnaflows. I hope to get over 300RWHP and get into the 13's....
Ran mid 14"s all day with a tune and 4:10 gears.
Put a 100 shot zex wet kit and ran a 13.8 with crappy launch tech.
Couldn't run any more without a helmet and fire jacket. Oooh! what a way to get the boot. Haven't been back since. That was Nov 05.

Good air makes a .75 difference.
I ran 13.7 w/ very similar mods.
Look for good air and you will easily break 14.0.

I really need to get to the track. I have most of the n/a mods except the full exhaust.
If a N/A Marauder had stock gears and a stock convertor, How much RWHP would you need to break into the 13's?

IMO, you'll need more than just an exhaust mod to break into the 13's from where you are now.
If you do a 3000/3500 stall, and long tube headers, you'll be there with room to spare. So go buy your helmet.
I agree with what you posted before...if you're going to spend the money...may as well go all out and get the long tube headers. Don't want to go the rest of your Marauder life regretting "shorties" when you could have spent a bit more coin and gotten the real deal.
This is what I chose :

Assuming the N/A motor isn't blown out to a 5.0 or something...personally (with stock gears and stock converter)...I don't think you can. The car is just too heavy. You'd need either full blown exhaust to come close, or the 3000/3500 stall converter, and even then...it'd be close. You'd also need one hell of a tune...possibly a really aggressive race tune.

The converter is a must for good ET's its not about the RWHP its the 60" times that is going to get you where you want to be, Barry was running 13's at about 301 RWHP

Dat,
With the listed mods in my sig...I run 14.2's every time down. Stainworks complete exhaust is in the garage awaiting the install. That sound be my tip into the 13's and helmet country. I to am not a track racer but more an M3 and Mustang hunter. Good luck in your hunt for them 13's. I hope to see you there soon.

I think you have what it takes now. Maybe my memory is off, or maybe this was one heck of a factory freak or even a typo. But I remember in an issue of MM&FF a shootout with a bunch of Marauders. I believe Lidio participated as well as a Kenny Brown Marauder and even a blown PI. One of the cars was a Marauder with a tune and 4.10's and I believe it ran in the 13's. I have the magazine, just not with me so I can't confirm. A search on MM&FF only shows a few of the cars from that shootout. Anyone else remember this? What are the rest of the numbers from your time slip?

I have seen down to a 14.7 with nothing but Lidio's street tune on 1 BAD 03 MM's car. (He dropped the tire preasure down to 18 lbs)
I never got to the track before I started modding so I don't have a baseline, but I did get down to 14.02 @ 97 MPH with 4.10's JLT CAI, Nitto 305 drag radials, U/D pullies and Lidio's race tune on 110 leaded.
S/C put me down to 12.92 @ 108. Next, 3500 stall PI. :)
PS: I almost forgot, I had the ZacK & Mac control arms on before she ever ran as well. :)
