Well... not sure if this is a rant or not, but it sure got me down. Sometime within the last few hours, someone decided to carve up my Mustang. I dunno, but $1250 sounds like a lot to fix a scratch on the hood. The vinyl striping sure complicates thing, doesn't it?

$1250 sounds insane. Someone hit my Mach 1 in a parking lot last month, finally got around to having it fixed. They are completely repainting the Drivers door and front clip and it will cost me about $520. The Azure blue paint is more expensive as well. The door recieved a scrape about 4 inches long, and to do it right they want to refinish the entire door, with everything sripped off, including hardware. The front clip had a couple of scrapes where the front license plate would be mounted, not sure where they came from, but they have been there for a couple of years and it was a good time to get them fixed. The Mach seems to be a magnet for getting dinged. This should bring her back up to pristine. It seems that $1250 is a lot to charge for the hood. I think a new one costs half that much! Might want to get another estimate.

Yep... I wasn't getting warm and fuzzy when they got into "4 hours to remove the stripes". All in all, they were quoting 6 hours labor for the vinyl remove & replace, $380 for the stripes themselves, and the rest to address the actual gouge.

1250 is high for just hood, even for a dealership paint and body business. Get more quotes. I recently had several huge scratches (all the way through color coat) on front quarter panel and rear door plus a pimple on the trunk lid repaired at a local dealer and it was only 1200.

P.S. If you find the perps, let me have a few minutes alone with them. I have a carrot peeler and a salt shaker reserved in their names.
