After 2 years of planning I finally opened my new shop here in Anthem Arizona. My Mobil 1 sign is not up yet but I included some pictures of what it is suppose to look like. I tried to do everything upscale including the wireless internet.

What a nice showroom! Never seen one so nice! Flat panel TV, comfy sofa and wireless? The kids play table is a great idea too. Word will spread fast. The best of luck on your new venture, Mike.

Thanks guys. A neat feature I have with the software is when a customer pulls up I go out side with a wireless barcode scanner and scan the vin off of their door or dash. It immediately gets transmitted to all 3 of my computers (point of sale, back office, and shop) it will know from the scan the year-make-model-engine size-oil filter parts#-air filter part#-fuel filter part#, what weight oil-how much oil-also if the customer is a repeat the scan will fill out their name and address and any comments from out last service plus about 100 more useful specs on that car including where to place the lift pads and even give my a picture of the engine pointing out the dipstick-oil filter-where the grease fittings are and how to shut off the oil reminder light and lots of other things.
I have wireless internet access while my customers wait as well.
My shop also does hand car wash and detailing. I had the last 2 bays floor poured with an angle and center drains for the water.
I also installed swamp coolers (A/C units) in the shop for the guys.

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN THE FUTURE.

The garage looks great. You'll be able to put some pics of your cars on the walls for your clients to oggle over.

Mike,
Congrats on a beautiful shop! I wish you the best in your new endeavor. Are those epoxied floors. They look beautiful. Those mercury vapor lamps help tremendously as well! I'm sure your techs will appreciate the swamp coolers. I think I need one of them for entertaining in my back yard! Obviously, there is a woman's touch in the design of the office. Great job!

A couple questions:
1. What other services will you perform?
2. What is the name of the program you're using for customer entry?
3. Are you going to dabble in the emissions biz?

Best luck,

J

I am in Anthem, AZ (623-551-9670) someone asked for the phone #.
My wife did the waiting room, we decided to go with a nice homey feeling instead of the usual cold industrial auto repair shop waiting room. Customers like watching satellite tv and surfing the web and don't mind waiting at all.
I will be doing Oil Changes, Transmission Flushing-Anti-Freeze service using a really neat Anti-Freeze "sucker outter" machine :-) also Power Steering flush's again using a machine as well as differential service, tire rotation, tinting, hand car wash, car detailing, air filters, and fuel filters.
The name of the software is ILUBE from Interlink and it is really a show stopper when I walk out to my customers using a wireless bar code scanner to catch the VIN number. Allot of customers react positivly to it and it conveys a level of professionalism.

As far as my Camaro, I have owned it for 30 years and it has a 548 ci BB that dynoed at 748HP with 9.7:1 comp.
I think their are better pictures in my gallery.
Now who wants to buy my shop in New Jersey....CHEAP!!

Thanks again guys.

Very nice Mike. It should be fairly easy to keep looking clean too.

I notice everything for fluid changes is on one level. Many of the oil change places around here have a pit arrangement.
Yours is a more flexible design.

Now all you need to add to the waiting room is a Coffee/snack bar in a corner. Then you'll have people looking for excuses to just to be there.

I think Mobil 1 Express >is< a franchise, or something that is franchised to existing service shops.

Thanks guys.

Mike, the shop is fantastic!

I suggest you sign up over on the SSR forum www.ssrfanatic.com (http://www.ssrfanatic.com)

SSR's use Mobil 1 from the factory, and even have the logo printed on the oil filler cap. SSR owners are as obsessed with oil as Marauder owners, and you'll see on SSRFANATIC threads griping about Chevy dealers who don't do oil changes properly, or use the right oil. There's quite a number of SSR owners in Arizona. There's also an SSR Marketplace web site, which is linked over from the forum.

I don't know what vendor fees are over there, but on the bright side, Dennis Reinhart is over there as a vendor!

Sorry to come in late... that is an absolutely gorgeous shop. There was a place like that in Rochester, MN (when compared to other shops there at least... nothing as nice as yours though) that I went to and even paid more for purely because of the pleasure it was dealing with their staff and their environment. I wish you the best of luck but, as we all know, you definately don't need luck. You just need to open and the customers will do the rest.

Mike, I wish we could attend your grand opening. That is without a doubt the best looking, most professional, and functional shop I've ever seen. It's good to see pro's set up from scratch, and do it right. Again, congratulations on a #1 operation.
It's not lost on us that you're supporting the breast cancer charity ...Barb & I wish you the best.
