The past few CAM shows I've been to a lot of people have complimented me on my upper mesh grille mod. So I figured I would post some pics up of it. I used the same gutter mesh stuff that is used in DEFYANT's lower grille mod to do this. All I used was two pieces of the gutter mesh cut to fit inside the grille with some overage and then cut to fit snug, a butane soldering torch (RadioShack) and soldered every other connecting grove on the mesh pieces together , metal cuters or dykes (the tool! lol), hot temp glue and glue gun or thin black nylon zip ties and lots of paitences! This past CAM meet at Hooters I really noticed that it's saved my AC condensor from damage as it was pretty beat up so I re-sodered everything back up today and looks good as new, held up about 5 months and took maybe 30-45 mins to take off, fix and put back on. I have found stones, big bugs and other stuff stuck in the grille before so I thought it was worth the couple bucks of gutter mesh and about an hour that I spent on forming the mesh to the grille.

on the subject.. has anyone ever tried removing the inside of the grill to leave a gaping hole in the middle? removing the badge and the lines.. just curious if it looks any good?

Looks good.
If you get a chance, could you take some more pics without using the flash? Maybe it's just my computer, but I can barely see the pictures. I think the flash on the camera is "snowing" them out.
Where did you buy the gutter mesh? I'm assuming places like Home Depot would have it.
I might just try this...

Just like the lower grille mod by Defyant.....you can purchase the gutter guard at Home Depot for about $1.50 a piece.

Yea, Chris it looked real good in person. I will need to get this done before the drive down to MVIV. I've got time this Sunday if you want me to do it, just bring me the grille or grilles and I can have it done in a few hours for ya. Just pick up the gutter mesh stuff from Home Depot or I can pick it up and I'll take care of the rest, no charge for labor for CAM members, just pay for the supplies and of course tips are always welcomed :D .

Nice mod, congrats, and thanks for helping out fellow members with an idea. I don't remember when the "love bugs" come out in FL, but they are a sorry situation. Your mod could be very valuable in the near future.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. If anyone wants one done, just PM and we'll figure something out. I usually have a lot of down time at work where I'm just sitting around and would love to do something to keep myself busy.

That is a nice mod, first done by David and Alex that looks great and best of all is inexpensive and a project that all could enjoy doing for their own ride. The grill gutting would look like a hole, I have had my grill(s) on and off way to often and the look is not handsome. By all means I am a fan of grill statements but the hole in the front is not a mod you will likely care for. That said, I believe "do your thing" Happy Modding. Dennis.....

At the request of ctrlraven, the thread has been reopened and all off topic posts have been deleted to let this thread get back on track. My apologies to ctrlraven for the attempt at humor and the rerailing of the thread.
Carry on gents.

I might do this mod. However, I would have to create some access holes for the bra straps.

For those interested (and for those who aren't interested) I have done this to my 2001 Crown Victoria LX as promised in the shoutbox this morning. Nearly all of my pictures turned out like crap and I only have one preview to show you guys. Tomorrow I'll get some good ones in the morning. For now though....

Here's the better pictures. One is a more front-view and the other is a side-view. Any opinions on whether I should do the lower area too? I'm thinking I should... tell me what ya think.

Looks good, I would do the lower, I mean it can't hurt and it will just add more flash to the front.

Just did this upper grill mod yesterday. I got the mesh from O'Reilly auto parts. It is grille insert for tuner cars and sells for $35. Can be bought in three colors red, blue and silver. 120x 20 cm and is by APC. Trim to fit. no pics yet since it has been raining since install, took about 45".

May and September are the normal lovebug months for you guys that have to travel to/in FL.

Here's how it looks on a DTR. You can buy this mesh in red as well.
