Ok guys, after several trips to the dealership, and after several shrugs from service managers I am stumped.
My front passenger seat squeaks and rattles like a mother when unweighted in travel after about 15 minutes. Other than placing the spare tire on the seat (which does work, but looks REAL stupid) or emptying a bottle of wd40 under the seat...I seem to be out of options. Normally this kind of thing wouldnt bother me, but trust me...it gets REAL annoying REAL fast.
Any of you guys have this problem? if so, please PLEASE give me a fix, Im losing my sanity one squeak at a time.

WTF?
Simply shrugging when a customer comes in with a legitimate problem, in a brand new car, is EXACTLY why dealer service departments have a bad rep. If they can't fix it, tell him you want a BRAND NEW SEAT, and all the sliders and mechanisms, too.
Yes, I have that problem also on the passenger seat. My wife screams at me constantly about resolving the issue. I have reported this to the dealer months ago. He said the seat harness is on back order. As you know I don't have much faith in L/M service, but will revere any commits till the problem is eradicated.
I know what you're thinking. Did he have a six cylinder or a supercharged eight cylinder ? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a Mercury Marauder, the most powerful 4 door Sedan in the world, and would blow your bumpers clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

I have the same problem with my drivers seat. I think it's the mesh like metal that is under the bottom cushion. The dealer has tried to fix it three times. Then they ordered a new seat wrong one came in, then they say the right one is backordered. I give up. I will say my pass. side seat moves around alot but does not squeak.

When you resolve the passenger seat problem we'll move to the rear deck (between back glass and rear seat) for more unresolved noises...nothing like a good case of rural, unpaved roads syndrome.

If only i had some kind of large uniform distributed weight i could put on the seat then there would be no problem. The spare tire just looks so stupid.

Hey I will offer my large rear end to be the evenly distributed weight....as long as we can switch off driving.....;)
My driver seat squeaks a bit getting in and out...but that is about it...typically service managers seem to find that the problems with noise in the "cabin" always link back to the radio......it is not loud enough to drown out the noise! :D
Funny just before I read this thread I was on the phone with my ServMgr at the LM dealership....the first day I had the car the 6 CD changer got jammed. Put in the CD's and played one....then when I pressed the button to change the CD...the thing got an error...tried to eject the "magazine" of disks and the thing would not come out....so took it to the dealership....the pulled the whole unit out and then sent it out....
So today (4 days later) I get the call the player is back....Problem was the "Magazine" housing was cracked....not the parts that pull out and you put the CD on but the magazine that houses them....then he says..."Ford says they will cover the cost on the service for the CD player etc...but I will be responsible for the cost of the magazine...$20.
I calmy said OK. Then I hung up the phone and called the Salesmanager at the dealership...and told him what the problem turned out to be...and that the service guy was confused...or something because he said I would owe you $20. He said..."Uh he was incorrect...see me and we will get it taken care of...."
It was nice I did not have to get my Blood pressure up because that would have really peeved me....to no end....all things considered if the only problem I ever have is the CD changer I will be a happy man....but the fact that the ServMgr said I would owe $20....I mean did he even look at the sell date(one week ago) or the mileage (354).....stupid, stupid, stupid.

I have the same problem with the drivers seat also. They replaced the lower seat tracks the first time I took it to the dealer, but it started doing it again after a few days. I just haven't had time to take it back again yet. I'm going to make them order me a new seat come hell or high water!

I've got the same thing going on with my LX Sport. First it was just the passenger seat, now it's the driver's seat too. I'm reluctant to have the service department start messing around with the interior of my car. I've been turning up the volume on the CD player to drown out the seat squeaking. :mad2:

OK! Need some info.
1- Does it matter where the hight adjustment is? Low/hi?
2- What was the build date? Are you guys all the same time??
3- When did it start? Day one or weeks or months later??
It has been my expericence that the more details you can post the quicker some one can help. At least there are a few seat squeaks out there. I agree on car that sell for 35*** it should not happen at all.
I have been picking up on the fact that most of complants are for the 300B? Or later 300A models. Hope I am wrong?

I'm a 300B, have to check the build date. As for the position, it doesnt matter, it will squeak if its all the way forward or all the way back...or anything else.

built date 9/02.. few months after
Same thing here, plus the seat was NOT level and it felt like it was twisted and/or the padding in it was in it wrong place.
I took mine in this morning (6/5) for a new driver seat frame; we'll see what happens.
She is a 300A door sticker reads 6/02
Maybe it's because I'm puttin 280lbs on it...but my seat doesn't make noises...'cept for maybe a sigh of relief when I get out

Not to add a 'me too' post to this thread, but...
Me too.
Driver's seat, it squeaks only when I put my weight on it at a certain angle. If I angle slightly to the left, I can usually avoid the squeak.
Now, before y'all go ballistic on me, rest assured the dealer is aware of this and I WILL get it addressed. It's just that I've been at the dealer so many damned times during the past two months, I'd like a breather so I can actually show up at work for an entire work week in a row without missing a day thanks to this car.
I'm not worried: I know some on this board have had this problem successfully corrected, and my favorite technician seems confident he knows what needs to be lubricated (he says it's due to a metal-on-metal contact in a hinge-type of area underneath the seat frame - best translation I can come up with).
Took my Marauder in for the drivers seat squeak on 6/5/03 got the car back on 6/13/03! (Mix up in parts with Ford.) So far after replacing the upper frame of the seat back no squeaks!

Upper frame? I seemed to think it was coming from the bottom of my driver's seat frame. Let us know if this cures the problem for good. My driver's seat is making me nuts.

Then, as the Doctors say "Don't do that"
After waiting a month or so the L/M dealer replaced my track assembly to resolve the problem concerning the passenger side squeaky seat. The part number is (F03W7Z-5461710-AA) TCK ASY-FRT ST 6-Way.

Thanks for the part number, merc. I'll be bringing that up with the dealer shortly. I just noticed today that the front 'flap' of the driver's seat leather cover is dangly loosely... looks like whatever flimsy piece of plastic that snaps into place to hold the cover firmly over the foam has come loose.
RC: regarding the seat noise that occurs when I shift my weight to a certain angle... don't go there! :D I can't take Mexican food quite as well as I used to when I was young, if you get my 'drift'. :D

OK<< I finally found the correct thread for squeaky driver's seat.
Has anyone solved the problem to their satisfaction? replace tracks? lower seat? upper seat? Entire seat? SM will do whatever it takes, I told him I would check with the experts(you guys) and he would do whatever fixes the problem.
My seat no longer squeaks after replacing the rails. Check my post for part #. Hey, mercman are we related. I know we share the same frame what else ?:pimp:

Hi,
I'm not sure how many of the parts have changed but here goes.
When I got my 93 GM LS Sport with 20K on it in 95 the passenger seat squeeked/rattled when empty.
Now here is the good news.
After it was about 9 yrs old with 60K+ on it the noise stopped.

I don't have squeaky seats, but you know those fake carbon fibre panels on the doors? They squeak like an other trucker. Especially if my left arm is on the arm rest, the air is cranked and everything is cold.

Had them replace the upper back seat frame, that was over 1,000 miles ago. No squeaky yet!

Still NO squeaky! It's been about 3,500 miles now
I turned 20,000 on the odometer before I heard it, but now I get a persistant squeak in the passenger seat when the girlfriend rides with me. (Save your jokes ... it's from the seat no matter what position I have her put it in.)
I'll be scheduling a little service visit to see if I can get everything battened down.

Well , I had a squeaky driver that my dealership fixed 100 % on the first pass .The passenger seat started it doing it about 6 weeks ago . Back in I went and they managed to eliminate about half the noise.I'm going back in next week.

Driver's seat also squeaks in the backrest area.

Okay, I had this problem about 3 months ago. the passenger seat would squeak when empty. I found that I could eliminate the squeak by pushing the headreat toward the passenger door. I took it in to the dealer and David Gainey of John Eagle L/M in Dallas did the following:
He sat in the back seat and rocked the seat in short bustrokes in the driver door-passenger door directions. Squeck repeated. He got a Phillips screwdriver and lifted the seat cover directly below the lumbar support. There's a loose screw there that when tigtened- fixed the squeak. 3000 miles later, no problems with it. The key is reproducing the noise.
It was an extremely annoying problem but maybe because I waited for some other reasons to take it in. Anyway, that's my .02;)

Ok so this squeak has been driving me nuts for the past 600 miles. So today on our way home from the YMCA my wife got in the back seat to help me find were it was coming from (she was tired of my complaining about it). Turns out it was the lower hinge corner on the outside of the seat. So when I got home I started investigating that area. I attached a pic of what I found. The metal seat frame was rubbing on bolt that is part of the hinge. So I looked at the passanger side and the metal from was much farther away from the bolt. So with a plyers and a file I had the squeak gone in 5 min. I can drive in peace now!!!
MY 03 SQUEAKS WHEN ANYONE SETS IN IT SEEM TO SQUEAK EVERYWHERE UNDERNEATH AND MY RADIO WENT OUT AT 32000. TAKING IN FOR BOTH PROBLEMS
Ok guys, after several trips to the dealership, and after several shrugs from service managers I am stumped.
My front passenger seat squeaks and rattles like a mother when unweighted in travel after about 15 minutes. Finally got around tonight to annoying sound from my driver seat. :)
Thought it might be the rail and bolt problem. Having someone moving in the seat, I found out that one of the middle plastic coated wires (coat hanger like stiffness) running to front of seat was tad too long and hitting the front. This rubbing made a crackling sound when getting in and out of the seat. By sliding it just a little, problem solved. If it returns, I'll have to cut the little tip off.
Sorry no pictures, but maybe this may help someone else.

I originally posted about spraying the six side springs underneath the seat with WD-40, to eliminate an annoying squeak sound. Didn't work.
After many-a-trial-and-error wrestling through this riddle, I finally figured the problem out.
Study diagram in link below.
http://i1321.photobucket.com/albums/u543/mp-rdp/seat.png
Beneath the spring bed is a metal plate. Near the front of the seat, at the plate's edge, is a lip that protrudes down and in. Depending on your weight, how you position yourself in the seat, and the wear of spring bed and side springs, the spring bed may rub against the lip, causing that annoying sound. I placed foam pieces between the lip and spring bed and tested. No sound. I removed the foam pieces, and sound returned.
To locate lip, place hand underneath front of seat and drift fingers back. It's an awkward fit for your hand, so you may have to go in at an angle.
If you're pro (which I obviously am not), guess it'd be easier to take seat out.
My baby is an '04. Not sure if design flaw applies to an '03 model.

WE HAVE A WINNER!
I found the same situation in my driver seat.
pull the seat cover back and have at it with a big pry bar (big screw driver doubling as a pry bar) pry the metal trim piece away from the bolt.
