Hey guys
I don't have a car around to look at, so please don't shoot me for this question. :D Tried a search, but could only find the mentions of full-size vs. mini-spare.
Is the mini-spare in the 300B cars an aluminium 18" wheel? If so, what is the width? I'm looking for drag race skinnies for my Super Coupe, but need large diameter wheels to clear the big brakes, probably with 25 mm bolt-on wheel spacers.
thanks !!

Ed N.Nope steel wheels for the spare and I highly doubt the track or any for that matter will let you race using a spare wheel as a skinny. Now Jerry Barnes had his Marauder wheel cut to use as a skinny.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't thinking to use the temporary spare tire, only the wheel, with a pair of the Mickey Thompson radials that they have for narrow 18" applications now. Lots of the Mustang and T-Bird guys use the 15" alloy mini-spares as skinny front runners for the track.
Oh well, guess I'll look for some cheapy aftermarket 18x7 or 7.5" wheels, and go from there.
thanks

The spare is a heavy (guage not weight) aluminum 18 inch wheel. The centre is welded all around, not just in quarter sections.
It would probably be strong enough to use as a skinny front.

OK, so does anyone know what the weight is on a mini-spare wheel, without tire?
thx

As long as I have been here, I have not seen the 411 your seek. I don't think anyone has broken down a spare and taken measurements.

A GOOD track will NOT let you use those for front wheels. NHRA even added it to the rulebook a year or so ago prohibiting them.
