I actually found this by a link from BlueOvalNews.Com. The GM source, an enthusiast's website specualtes that GM is considering a comeback for the Chevelle. The link shows many computer generated conepts. Somebody spent a whole lot of time and money on this for it to be just wishful thinking. Maybe there is something to it. Check it out.

Another potential Holden import by the looks of it.

I think you are correct, it's just someone's wishful thinking.
If GM follows everyone elses naming trends, the next Chevelle will be an SUV, Mini Van, or 'Crossover'

Yuck. That's like the new Grand National they want to make. It looks like the GTO with different badges. When are they going to get it through their skulls, the GTO is UGLY!

The web site you linked to is showing variants of Holden designs, looks like Commodores.
GM is going to bring out RWD V8's based on a Holden platform. The Camaro and Impala RWD cars will share this with a RWD Cadillac (STS, IIRC) and the Buick Lucerne. I seriously doubt there will be a Chevelle, at least not a RWD V8 Chevelle.
There should be an Impala SS version, rumoured to have the 400 HP LS2. That will be interesting. It won't take much to swap that out for an 500 HP LS7, which Chevrolet has already developed a supercharger that'll boost HP to mid to upper 600's.
These spy shots are purported to be of the new Impala RWD design --

About as bland as the rest of GM's line up. And to think I used to love Chevrolet.

That's what I've heard too.
The Holden platform these will use however is apparently still 'under development'. Hopefully there will be no more delays that will extend the current planned introduction of a new Camaro etc.
I don't know what they used to build the Camaro concept, but concepts platform is not the platform the final car will use.
New US emission regulations expected now may put a lot of the projected high output engine plans out to pasture.

You would think they learned their lesson of bland styling with the GTO. They think if they put a retro name on anything it will sell. They are on the right track with the Camaro...offer some of the syling of the old muscle cars and don't charge a ton of money for it! o'ya and big HP.

You would think they learned their lesson of bland styling with the GTO. They think if they put a retro name on anything it will sell. Sometimes I think that they won't learn their lesson, because they don't have a clue. I get the impression that they must either have young guys designing the body styles who never grew up with the beautiful and artistic body styles of the 50's and 60's, or women who don't have much of an eye for, nor much concern for how different shapes apeal to the eye.
Just look at most of the car styling these days, and that becomes very apparent. I mean the majority of them look like girl's cars that should be driven by Elton John while wearing one of his typical flaming pair of glasses. That's why I've appreciated the Marauder. It's body style has been one of the very few jems of pleasantry in a world of the typical generic, and unimaginitive aerodynamic jellybean on wheels look of most cars these days.

Here are more close up shots of the Impala prototype. It has a resemblence to the SS concept, imo. Keep in mind, this isn't the SS version, which would have bigger wheels and tires.

That "Chevelle" looks like a slightly larger version of a Cavalier....or Cobalt....or Lumina....or whatever they call it.

I'm a die-hard GM guy, owning both a late 70's Cutlass and a 87 Grand national, but the stuff coming out of GM lately is horrible. IMO the problem is that GM builds the cars and expects marketing to sell them, instead of doing market research to define a vehicle that will sell itself. The new Mustang vs. the new "GTO" is a perfect example. People want a package. Styling AND performance AND reliability. Oh, and a note to GM: don't build a car and put a retro badge on it. . .build a retro car darnit. :mad2:

The new Camaro looks terrible! Looks like a match box car, or a transformer.

Check out the instrument panel on this thing. 1/4 mile times at the push of a button:burnout:
Sorry about the pic being fuzzy, it was too big so I had to shrink it. The gauge on the left has 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 0-60 times as well as speed. pretty shnazzy.

Yeah, but the production car may not be exactly the same. The Camaro concept still looks better than the pics of the car Donny posted!

The Challenger instrument panel....I don't know if I like it.....I mean, the outside looks great, very retro like the new 'Stang, but I think they would have completed the retro look if they brought a bit of "old school" back inside the car as well? I don't know, just my 2 cents..

Looks like a Malibu in the front and Cobalt in the middle. The rear does not matter since every car has the same one if I know Chevy. Hmmm pushrod V6 or Ecotec rattle-box? Another four-wheeled appliance from the numb minds at GM.

Yes.
Nice selection of wheels Billy! Those pics are mostly for the paint job, since they were taken right after the car was painted. I have different wheels on the back of it now, with P315/60/15 Mickey Thompson drag radials, and soon I'll be mounting the new wheels that I have for the front as well.
But either way, what ever wheels you have on an old Chevelle, it still will look better than that poor excuse of a concept car that they dare to call a Chevelle.
