Installation pics of "Vynal Shades"

Well it took a while but I finally got the pics of the installation. Click on all pics to enlarge.
This is the front of the Avery graphic that went on the lens

Set up with a heat gun, exacto knife, water spray bottle and hand held squeegy (sp), and graphic http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/3/9/4/3/vynalshades004_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=6362&c=3&userid=3943) . Then comes the installation...spray water onto lens as if applying window tint, heat shape and smooth out bubbles very carefully. Then cut out the pieces you dont want and lift carefully as to not tear the part that you dont want to stick around.http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/3/9/4/3/vynalshades011_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=6367&c=3&userid=3943). And finally the finished product . Hope you enjoyed the Installation process....it took about an hour just to install this one. you are looking at a total of about 5 hours to complete the job and wait about 5 days before you wash your car to allow time to dry. I have had mine on for about 10 and a half months now and only one started to peel. All the others still look great and the Marauder has been washed every week since the installation with no ill affects. Just thought I would share.

You may have to google it, but you can get the graphics from Avery Graphics. Or you can go to you local graphics shop and they should have the color to match your car.

I did it this way for the easily reverseable aspect of it....not easy to remove paint off the lens if it can be done at all with out damaging the lens.

Sure can....
1. Remove License plate
2. Remove 2 screws behind license plate
3. Remove 2 more screws on license plate light
4. Remove 6 black nut bolts on inside edge of trunk lid
4b. Remove black nut bolts inside cut outs in trunk lid (one by trunk
and on by lens.
5. Remove rear assembly very carefully kind of wiggling it out.

I still want to do this one, best thing about this mod is you can see through the vinyl when he brakes, so no loss of break light. So no need to upgrade break lights and that

This is mine done with paint and clear coat. No primer used so when they're on can't tell it's been done.

Don't currently have any close up pics. It can probably be considered thin, since i think i only applied 3 coats four at the most and two coats of clear. Definitely done with spray paint, during a warm spell in Febuary of this year. Used wrong type of masking tape (lesson learned) so had to touch up the beveled edges of the lenses.

A body shop will usually only charge about 200$ to do this job, with professional products.

Tint scratches very easily so I dont think that is a good route to go, I would go with black vinyl if that is the route you want to go with your tails. Vinyl will scratch as well but it normally isnt as visible. I put nightshades on mine and really like the way they turned out but when I get pulled over for them im SOL! Heres mine...

Silversurfer03 had his painted and clear coated. When they did the tail lights, the body shop did a light spray on them. During the day the paint looks dark, at night you can see though the paint. Still has factoy tail lights.
