Joe, Looks good! Did the same thing to my '04 MM. Makes the front look more agressive.

Looks great!

Slightly off-topic, what hood is that? And would it fit a Marauder?:help:

Thanks!

It's a hood from a wrecked 2003 Marauder ( had a few scratches and was gotten for cheap ). Got the cowl scoop from eBayŽ. And had a body shop cut the hood, mount the scoop, and paint everything. *Details (http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB29&Number=1232902&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)

*BTW ... Any 1998+ Panther hood may be used.

Joe, the phat lip looks just fine and the hood is a bomb. I saw an early shot of it in yellow and did not care for it sitting there in the shop but finished on your car it is great., Very nice job. Conrats. You now have what about 85 of us wanted. A functional hood scoop. Thinking of going into business???? Got any idea what one like yours would cost? Thanks Dennis.:2thumbs:

That hood is the real deal man, sweet, very sweet, I saw in the thread that you cut so it would be functional? did this prove to actually work

Chin spoiler looks great. I saw one up close and personal on Glenn's car at SSHS6 and was impressed with how well it fits.

Hood looks good, that's about what I was trying to get made when they had the fiberglass hood proposal going on here. I bet if someone made a simple fiberglass cowl hood and just put it on the market they would sell more of them than they got commitments (or even replies) for in the poll.

Looks good with Black!
Wonder what it would look like with silver or blue?

You have one bad a$$ car.

Also like I said before, your hood is the bomb and I hope that you will consider making them for those here who want it even if you don't need the money you would make.

If time is really that bad for you, then maybe you could teach someone exactly what needs to be done and they would produce them. You could even get a small royalty for every hood sold.

Just my 2 cents.

RR|Suki - That hood is the real deal man, sweet, very sweet, I saw in the thread that you cut so it would be functional? did this prove to actually work

The hilighted sections were cut-out of the outer skin .....

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2206000-2206999/2206612_96_full.jpg

The hood liner / bracing was left intact.

Reasons:

did not want to compromise the integrity / rigidity of the hood. *It is a daily driver.
cutting-out any more of the outer skin wouldn't be of any benefit ( other than a few ozs of weight ), since the inner panel remains intact.

As for functionality, the intention was for heat extraction and/or engine bay cooling; IMO it was successful .....

After an hour around-town cruise ( city driving ), some temperature readings ( fahrenheit ) .....

29.8 - outside air temperature.
36.4 - metal zip tube ( a.k.a. intake tube ).
143.7 - bottom of heat shield for metal zip tube.
47.3 - throttle body adapter exterior. **
87.8 - intake manifold below throttle body adapter. **
150.2 - upper radiator hose exterior.

** With the engine cover on.

Set-up .....

http://www.geocities.com/gdmjoe/sh01.jpg

After a 2hour ( heat-soak ) drive ( highway then city ) .....

40.4 - outside air temperature.
52.8 - metal zip tube.
180.4 - bottom of heat shield for metal zip tube.
62.1 - throttle body adapter exterior. ***
80.4 - intake manifold below throttle body adapter. ***
143.2 - upper radiator hose exterior.

*** With the engine cover OFF.

A couple of new reading sources .....

53.4 - throttle body exterior
281.0 - exhaust manifold

Does it suck | blow ? Wanted to know ( forsure ) myself, so right after I got the hood installed, paper streamers were taped to hang over the opening.

At idle and in park, the streamers gently fluttered out from the screen in the opening. Meaning: Under-hood pressure > atmosphere. It blows.

While driving, the streamers are pegged and mashed against the screen ( and Yes, the amount of mash while not quantitatively analyzed, was greater in proportion to increased MPH ). It sucks. *Actually it means that there's a high pressure area at the windshield / cowl opening | the engine bay is a low pressure area | ?????

As a BTW ... When the engine is turned-off, even on warm days you can watch ( and feel ) the heat waves coming outa the scoop opening.

Thanks ! Brian for the compliments.

And like you .... Had the fiberglass cowl scoop hood made it to market ( even with the 2years of waffling ), I too would have bought one.

Question? Do you guys think that the chin spoiler will keep away some of the air that the plastic vent under the car catches to cool off the radiator?

that thing doesn't do anything, I don't even have one on my car and my temps are fine

Yeah, I was wondering about its effectiveness. I know that a member here makes them out of metal. My car sits fairly low and I think that the metal piece offers no flex.

my car is quite low as well, also my supercharger intercooler sits right infront of the radiator and is quite large, and still my cooling is normal
look in the pic, you can see me cooler under the bumper, and you can see the top if you look right behind the grille

Joe, how did you mount the chin spoiler? I used 1/4" plastic push rivets.

Used nylon / plastic license plate bolts / nuts. *Can find 'em at any auto accessory section near the license plate frames.

IMO they're a bit more secure than push-pins -AND- they don't corrode ( for Yankees that means rust ).

Yep, I love the Mach1 spoiler. Looks like it was meant for the car, and it helps direct air up to my intercooler...

Your car looks great. I am looking for chin spoiler for my MM. The PN you listed is for Mach 1. Do you have PN of one for MM?
If so please send me a message.
Thanks

There is no P/N for a Marauder, so you have to use the Mach 1 P/N.

For a Canadian fella (Toronto), what is the best vendor/place - on here if possibly - to order a good quality chin spoiler.
I love the look of these so much, it's time to take the plunge on this!

Don't buy from ebay. Way overpriced. I paid about $75 for mine. Same exact product. LeoVampire has the web site. I can't remember it.
