Well I've been waiting a bit to post this...
I had to get over the wreck...:(
I was stopping for a traffic light and was hit from behind by a small chevy pick-up truck...:(
A witness said he was "ACCELERATING" to try and go around me and through the light....
He was also "ON" perscription drugs....
I'm hoping the Marauder's not totaled...but the inmpact was so severe that it broke the back of my drivers seat to the rear...
The little truck lifted the Marauder up into the air, putting enough stress on the top surface to put a small kink in the roof....
I thought it was strange that the airbags did not deploy.
The truck was definitely totalled...
The truck had been lowered so that it went under the Marauder...
may have ben a good thing...damage seems to stop short of rear window and it never reached the rear axle or any drive train components...:)
Insurance adjuster has not contacted me yet....
Oh, I think I'm OK...got neck x-rays yesterday and most of the soreness is gone...
I'll try to let y'all know what happens....
Y'all take care...

Yeah, sorry to hear about your accident! Glad to hear you will be ok! On Saturday almost got t-boned by an old lady who while making right turn decided her lane wasn't enough and wanted mine too!! All this without a look prior to making the turn. As you know--"Some people!!!".

Well... talked to the adjuster a little while ago....
approx. $8,000.00 worth of damage...
Appears no damage to drive train...:)
My insurance co. Met Life will go after the guy who ran into me...but we don't know if he has insurance or not...
I'm going to meet with the body shop guys at my Linclon Mercury dealer tomorrow... to discuss repairs... maybe I can get a decent repair job...
Oh...Sid...yes the Megs were left just sticking straight out the back with nothing much left above them...but they are pretty scratched up...
Y'all take care,

Thank God you're okay! Another case where the panther took the punishment and saved the day - bravo. I'm elated it's repairable. Good thing you weren't driving some econobox - fait acompli. It's going to be rough driving a rental while your car is renewed, but if that's the worst that comes from this, I think you're doing okay!

Sorry about your accident. May I ask how old the other driver was? The bottom line is your ok and there is no totaled. Everything can be fixed. ;)

Glad your ok. 8K in damage should not be a total loss.

Your Marauder functioned as it should. Todays car are designed to wreck and be run into. Amazing what you can walk away from nowadays. Air bags only go off in frontal crashes.

I hope that if that ever happens to me I'm knocked out so I don't get out of the car and get myself in trouble by knocking out the other driver. Sorry to hear about what happened.

These Panther cars are tough as nails.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your MM. :( Hope you are OK.

I think that this happens more often than we hear about. It seems that many folks are accustomed to running the yellow lights regardless of the vehicle in front. Seems the pick-up driver made the decision to "GO" while you were getting on the brakes. Once he realized you were stopping, he tried to swerve to miss you without much success.:o Very unfortunate.

I try to stay very conscious of what and who is around my car while driving. I frequently glance in the rearview mirror and check all around. In an emergency situation, you just may not have time to clear all around before choosing "an out". So, if I know someone is hanging on my azz end, I know whether to stop or go through the intersection. If I assess that it'll be a hard stop for me .... I assume that the guy behind me probably can't haul it in fast enough. I'll juice it and go through the light. If the tailgater wants to go ... that's his issue.

You might even luck out with the rental. When my Lincoln was totaled, the rental they put me in was an '07 Maxima SE. Not a Marauder, but not a bad car to have a couple of weeks with...

I met with the repair man today at the body shop...
German gentleman with 40 years experience...:)
He was in the process of cutting and fitting new rear fenders to a Lincoln Town car...he had cut rear fenders off a wrecked Town Car (this was a money saving deal with the owner) and was matching them to the cut he had made on the wrecked car to be fixed....
really incredible match of parts...
He also had an appreciation for the (My) Marauder...:)
Good news... no drive train damage at all....:D
So...$8,000.00 covers everything from rear window back...with very little damage in front of lower portion of the trunk...in other words where it steps back up to clear the deferential and rear axle...
I'll post more information as it develops...
I'll try to post a few pics too....
