There are lots of ODBII readers but I know they can't retrieve everything inside the EEC. There are a lot of FORD specific information in the EEC. Is this info retrieved with the standard SAE PWM protocall or is there alternative protocall that the EEC can negotiate to? Where can I find this information?? Anyone got an "in" to Ford engineering?

The SAE (OBDII) acquistion rate is 10.6kb VPW (Variable pulse width) and the Ford Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) is 41.6kb PMW (Pulse width modulated). Fords are quite unique in the fact that both are derived from pin #2 on the OBDII connector (Diagnostic link). The device being used has to: A. Be capable of the greater protocol; and B. Request information from the ECU at that higher rate to get response. The rate of data transfer is, as you can see, almost four times as fast. There are also somewhere greater than 500 potential data parameters in Powertrain alone on an '03 as opposed to the 85 or so mandated by the EPA for SAE. Not all are typically used in either case but you can see the difference percentage-wise.
May I ask the reason for your inquiry?

My Auto X-Ray won't retrieve the FORD coded and I know they are there. I could build an interface fo the PWM protocall if I knew what the protocall was and the commands and returned data could all be done. I have more time than money and still not a lot of either and the Ford equipment is well out of my reach financialy. You seem to know a lot about this. Can you point me in the right direction?
