Today while doing donuts in the fresh snow, my spare came loose and I have no idea how the frickin' thing goes back on (I had it on, but i has always been loose).

Anybody have a pic of the small donut spare mounted?

I tried searching, but to no avail.

BTW the MM is great for donuts!

Howdy, Ag! (Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '94.....er, '04 here!)

An Aggie doing donuts in the snow! Go figure!

Anyhow, I have a picture, but it's probably not close enough to do you any good.

Basically, if you look in your trunk on the shelf you will see the little hook receptacle thing. You mount your spare up on top of that thing and try to center it the best you can. Then you take the Captain Blackbeard style hook and drop it down in the middle of the wheel so the hook can loop underneath the hook receptacle thing. Once you have the hook secured under that loop, you just turn it clockwise until it's tight. (Remember: righty-tighty!)

This picture was taken before I "acquired" the full-size spare my 300A *SHOULD* have come with!

Whoop! An Aggie in the cold with a DTR MM doing donuts!

I did that, my question is how does the nut go on the hook? I think I may have the nut on upside down, and the spare is loose on top of the receptacle.

Whoever came up with the spare tire hold-down method is evil. The hook threads into the nut at the narrow end, so you have to drop it in from the top of the tire and then fight the hook into the eyelet on the shelf and tighten up the nut from up underneath the inside the tire. All the while trying not to break your back from the acrobatics.

The spare is pretty much a pain in the butt to deal with on track day, especially a full sized spare. Mine usually winds up on the bottom of the trunk for several weeks afterwards until I need the space again.

Hmmmm...

I'd have to take a picture to explain it. It's kinda funky compared to my Crown Vic spare tire assembly.

The Marauder one has some white plastic shroud over the top of it. Mine has never been apart, just loosened up a bit when I swapped out the donut spare for the real-sized spare. It's definitely a two-handed job - one under the tire to thread the hook and one on top to tighten it down. Not the easiest thing to do, but at least it stays nice and secure when it's tightened up.

How 'bout those t-sippers, eh?! 12-7 is good enough for me!

Oh well, I am at a loss! If anyone has a pic of it assembled maybe I can get it, but I have tried everything I can think of to no avail.

I'll take a pic of it when I get a chance. Give me a day or two and I'll get back to you on it.

With mine that is a permanent condition. :)
