Hey, looking for wheels has been super difficult. I'm looking for 18x9 with 60MM +/- a couple offset.

I found the Honda S2000 wheels will fit, I'm not sure if they are stock wheels, but I'm going to hit some of their owners forums to see where people are buying their wheels. Here's a list that fit the S2000, maybe this will help my search.
What I'm looking for are black with chrome faux bead locks. very similar to what Sean Hyland shows on his website, but trying to save $3000! His are closer to $5k.
Front:

18x8 = +53mm (e.g. WORK MEISTER S2R)

Rear:

18x8.5 = +55mm [minium of +50mm]
18x9 = +60mm (e.g. WORK MEISTER S2R)

I for one appreciate someone doing the legwork. I gave up some time ago. I would die for black anodized 5 spoke wheels.....

You keep looking.....:up:

Here's an offset calculator I found. Assuming the stock 8" rims are a 50mm offset, then to not let the new wider 9 inch rim extend out any further, one needs an offswet of 63mm.

now like CRUZ says, off to find black anodized five spokers!!!

nah, don't get me wrong, I'm only saying that Honda S2000 owners if they wanted to get larger wheels, would end up (except bolt pattern) going with a 18x8.5 or 18x9 wheel that would have the same offset as needed on the MM (I think). So, I was thinking I'd follow some of them through their website forums to see what wheels they werre buying, maybe I could find some black spokers, and I'd call the manufacturer to see if I could get it in 5x114.3 bolt pattern. At least Tire Rack lets you see the S2000 with 18x9 wheel selections, that is a start.

I'm looking for 18x8 50mm offset front, 18x9.5 60mm to 65mm offset on rear. 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 2.779 hub centric diameter ( i think)

fiske wheels are very expensive - at least the ones I looked at.

I called FISKE a while back, likely $800 each with special finish.

All Fikse wheels are custom-made. When they have your order and money, they make the wheel for you based upon your specs. Truly a custom wheel.

Someone posted $800 per wheel, that's probably too low, IMO. Expect at least $1200 each from what I've read in the past.

I've wanted the Fikse FM5 (the black wheel in the photo posted earlier) for my Caprice for some time now, I can't justify spending that kind of money for wheels. Simmons makes a great wheel for our cars that's similar to the FM5, and they're less expensive:

MARTYO, try to take the stats for the wheels i posted and see if the NYC Simmons wheel distributor can hook us up?? or at least can they talk price? maybe they could test fit one for you to see what offset is best on a 9.5 rim to fit a nice 285 tire it should be somewhere between 60mm and 65mm so to keep it about the same 65mm, or a little more outward 60mm as compared to stock

I'm looking for 18x8 50mm offset front, 18x9.5 60mm to 65mm offset on rear. 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 2.779 hub centric diameter

you can invoice me, I'll add it to my legal fee pile :D

Okay . . . So, I'm gathering that our rims are some weird special size, and that no one makes rims that fit? Or if they do, they'd cost as much to buy as a small economy car?

I'd love a set from a photo posted here last week (don't remember which thread), but I think I'd much prefer to put that kind of money into a supercharger instead.

What do you all think of this . . .

A. Strip clearcoat from factory rims, powdercoat black.
B. Strip clearcoat from factory rims, have rims anodized black.

Will this work? Do wheel shops do this kind of work? Gotta find the thread with that picture . . . It was a five-spoke rim. Spokes were shaped sorta like factory rims, which I very much like (the spokes have "dimension"). Spokes were black, outer rim was chrome looking. Very, very sweet looking. 'Cause yeah, after the initial "wow" has worn off, the stock rims are starting to look a bit too gaudy for me.

Not too sure about approaches A. and B. because the chrome-looking (brushed aluminum, or whatever it was) outer rim section (of the wheels in that photo) really set the wheels off and gave the car a visual sophistication that I believe a 100% black rim would lack. Anyone else remember that picture?

I agree, a black center section with a polished outer rim would really give the car an aggressive, racing look.

A black car with blacked-out chrome, black wheels (and of course black tires) would look boring, not striking, IMHO.

A powder coater should be able to do that. I would ask how they got the clearcoat off. If they are not careful, their process may either eat away at the aluminum or affect the material properties or heat treating of the wheel. Make sure they have experience with wheels. It shouldn't be that big of a deal though.

that she is!

I saw those wheels at Carlisle last week. The color is perfect for the MM.
If the stock wheels could be changed to that color along with the added 1.5 inch in the rear and big brakes.........hmmm thats what I want ;)

Ghost, I think I'm tending to agree with you . . . Thanks, Warpath. As always, thanks for your help, Cruz . . .

NOW . . .

I FINALLY found the pic I was yammering about . . . Here's the rims I would just DIE for. This picture was originally posted here by ONEBADMK8 (hope you don't mind me reposting here):

http://newsfile.tv/rims-2.jpg

Anyone? ONEBADMK8--will try to PM you about this picture. Where did you get it? Who would know about the rims in the photo? Is this your car? Did you ever get your custom (badgeless) grille fabricated? Looks like one in the photo . . . I think that this is just THE coolest looking Marauder I've ever seen.

Hey shooter,

That is a true "blast from the past" that was done in PhotoShop back during a conversation about wheels and badgeless grills.

Since you seem to be an expert at the "Search" mode....there was another thread about 6-8 months ago which included a link to a website that would bring up a profile pic of a black Marauder and you could select from a bunch of wheels, click and they'd be on the car. Sorry, I don't remember the thread but it was REALLY neat. Let us know if you find it.

AHA! Shoulda known . . .

Thanks for solving the mystery, TAF. Now I AM depressed! Oh well. Back to the powdercoating idea, I guess . . .

Those look like American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels. http://www.americanracing.com You can get custom offsets up to 20" diameter. You might be able to get a set that will fit the MM and have them powdercoated to match.

Konig wheels also list the Marauder in their pulldown wheel menu, but no picture of the car with wheels on it, and the offsets are too small,making the wheel stick out too far... need at least 50 offset for 8" widths, higher offset for 9" like 60-65ish

On this page,

http://www.tsw.com/new/productline_all.php

the Sting and Revo wheels will fit 18x8 0r 18x9 with 50MM offset will be same as stock, or if the 9" width, will stick out 1/2 wider, I think there's still room even with a 255 tire, because the 255 tire will be a little less high 255x50 or 255 x 45 are shorter than the 245x55...front's should be no problem

I'm getting goosebumps just thinking we're getting closer.
There IS a solution out there, we just need to keep looking.

I remember that pic from ONEBADMK8 as well. Realizing it's not real, I still want to focus on the fact that the wheels in that picture appear to be 19 or 20 inch. Are we ok with that? I still think sticking with the 18 is our best bet, and the 18 seems to be quite popular on the wheel market as well.

Now......I remember someone 'cutting' a wheel larger. Was it Lidio?

I spoke with a friend, and apparently this technique of 'cutting' and 'adding' material to a wheel to make it wider is not all that unusual. Apparently, it's quite popular. AND, apparently this is how wheels are sometimes repaired. It's a simple welding issue.

Therefore, why can't we find the wheel we want, and have it re-sized professionally by someone who does this type of work, if not the originating manufacturer?

I need to hunt down that thread, and contact that individual for more information. He apparently widened his stock wheels.

Someone beat me to it....please....

This could be our SALVATION....
