After pondering the pros and cons of adding a supercharger to my Marauder to gain more power and losing my extended warranty I opted to go in another direction. This weekend I purchased a '05 Dodge Ram Quad Cab SRT-10. I still have the Marauder in virtually stock condition (keeping the warranty intact). But now I also have a vehicle that comes stock with 500HP and 525 ft-lbs or torque. I also have that vehicle under a 7/70 extended warranty. I now have the best of both worlds. Looks, styling, comfort (Marauder)and can go faster (SRT-10) without risking losing my warranty. As you can see by my tread the warranty issue for me was the kicker. And I got a great deal on the truck. It won't be driven much (9mpg city/12mpg highway) but when I feel the need for more speed I will saddle up in the monster truck. I am going to regret the old changes though (8.5 qts of Mobil 1 synthetic).

Nice!

But, I'm guessing that truck cost just a wee bit more than a supercharger for the Marauder. :)

Well, you should have bought a Lightning, IMO. But at least you got the automatic version of the SRT-10. Have fun with it.

Those are some sharp trucks for sure! Way to go.

Down here in the ATL. I saw an 05 for sale Red over Black Ithink it had like 9kmiles and they wanted $38k for it.

Too much for me, but a hefty hunk off list.

Good luck with your new ride!

Nice truck. I am not a Dodge guy, but the low prices the SRT-10s are selling for has peaked my interest.

Hell of a nice toy for the money.

Yeah it was a wee bit more than the supercharger but I have a valid warranty on a 500 hp vehicle. And I got the vehicle for $30,000. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will add them to the post.

The SRT 10 trucks are cool. Just don't run up against a S/C Marauder. You will probably lose..

Nice find!. I don't care too much for the SRT's though. Agreed with Sal, you could have bought an L for under $20k and sunk the rest into it. I've seen a modded L vs a modded SRT and the L ate it without question. A kid here in my town has an s/ced SRT and the thing screws, but he's put more money into the thing fixing it than anything.

I live in Smyrna about 60 miles from Philly. And i didn't want to modify my car to go faster and void my warranty. That's why i didn't go with a Lightning. I think a Supercharged Marauder and the truck would be an interesting race. i may see at the next CAM meeting..... Or take it to the next group track meet

Nice truck, but bying to keep the warranty on the Marauder does not make sense.

I have 74K miles, 30K S/C, 46K w/ a T/C and 72K w/ a chip and all warranty work has been covered w/o question.

This is the first time I've heard anyone say that installing a S/C won't void the warranty. Everybody that I know that has one says that it does. I'm not willing to take that chance. Engine replacement is expensive. I'll take the 500hp and extended warranty. :nono:

"Understanding the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Nearly everyone has heard about someone who has taken a vehicle that has been modified with aftermarket parts to a dealer for warranty service, only to have the dealer refuse to cover the defective items. The dealer usually states that because of the aftermarket parts the warranty is void, without even attempting to determine whether the aftermarket part caused the problem.

This is illegal.

Vehicle manufacturers are not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket parts are on the vehicle. They must be able to prove that the aftermarket parts are indeed at fault. To better understand this problem it is best to know the differences between the two types of new car warranties and the two types of emission warranties."

Yes, you are correct, that's the the law but that ain't reality. When MIB2003 croaked his
engine at 17,000 miles by breaking a connecting rod FMC denied the warranty because the ECM had been chipped. FMC was legally wrong but they have unlimited resources at their disposal compared to the average Joe.

One thing you notice about car guys is we all have somewhat different tastes. Some of us want to play with our MMs and others would rather buy additional HP by adding another ride to our stable.
Different strokes for different folks.

Your'e right people break the law everyday.

So far I have had good luck with warranty and non-warranty issues with my Ford products. I have owned and modded several Ford products going back 19years and have never had a warranty problem.

Same goes for several other mfg.

I realize that can change at any time wether my car is stock or modded.

Rumble's reply is exactly why I purchased the truck (and got the 70,000 mile extended warranty). I love the Marauder but do not want to be staring down the throat of a $5 - $10,000 engine rebuild after a S/C install if something croaks in the engine. I don't think the truck will be as fast as a S/C'd Marauder but it sure is fun leaving rubber marks in 1st, 2nd, and part way thru 3rd from a dead stop. And being able to chirp the tires on a 1 to 2 upshift from a roll with a 70,000 mile warranty. It let's me have fun AND peace of mind. Two (2) fun rides, both with 70,000 mile extended warrantys. It doesn't get any better for me. . .
