This is a pic of the Ford 427 concept car - looks very close to the 300c production car from Chrysler.

Hey Bill Ford ----- ever wonder why you get your a$$ kicked in the market place. build someting uninspired, become a rental vehicle - act bold, apparently earn money and have one of the hottest sedans on the market.

Say goodbye big 3 hello asian look-a-likes

It would have been awesome if Ford had come out with the 427 before DCX brought out the 300...but they seem to be content being the rental-fleet king and in having the dubious distiction of building the world's largest array of morbidly obese Stupid Useless Vehicles...

I understand that ford hired the designer from DCX who was responsible for the 300C. I suppose it was after the 427 concept though.

Yes Ford should have built the 427 as a RWD sedan powered by the 3v 4.6 as a base engine.

you know it's not too late for ford. with the strech 300's looking to do double duty as livery cars as well as streched ones as limos this could be the replacement for the panther platform that ford keeps talking about. with real differentiation between ford/lincoln/mercury this could be the new large RWD sedan that could refresh the blue oval. The 500 could be the midpriced sedan with the 427 as the big brother. There is still penty of room in the market for large sedans.
with fuel prices still hovering around 2.25 thrown in cylinder shut off and tons of power on demand and let the sales ring up.

rear end looks bentley.

Looks more like a modernised rendition of a '65 - '66 - '67 Ford Fairlane/Galaxy rear

that's a sleek design, unlike the DCX 300/300C with it's high beltline.

When I look a this car's tail, I think '68 LTD, only smoother.
And yeah, brings a tear to my eye thinking what could have been. The 500 is a POS...

Everyone seems to be talking about a Ford, but the insignias on the back and the front are Chevy. 427 was a Chevy engine. Also, the chief designer from Chrysler was hired by Chevy, not Ford.

The 427 was also a Ford engine. A very famous one. The insignias are not 'Chevy'

The chief designer of the Chrysler division of DCX may or may not have been hired by GM. The designer of and responsible for the Chrysler 300 was hired by Ford.

Yes, you are correct, both Ford and Chevy had famous 427 engines. When I viewed the picture of the car on my computer at work, the picture itself, and the Ford ovals were very distorted, appearing to look like the Chevy "bow ties." As I look again at the picture on my home computer, the insignias are very clearly Ford ovals. Thank you.

The person responsible for the 300C design is Ralph Gilles at Chrysler, promoted this year to a Vice President position at Chrysler. I can't find any information that suggests he has left Chrysler and now works for Ford.

I'll see if I can find the article I read it in. But it really isn't that important. If the 300 represents his typical design 'style', I'd just as soon he stay at DCX.

Looks like all we ended up with was the front end, now seen (for the most part) fitted to the Fusion...
