When I went into the dealer today for the 3k service I met the Parts Manager and he dug up the Ford Part Number for the Wheel Locks. The PN is F2LY-IA043-A. I paid about $35.00 for them including taxes... The registration card goes to McGard and ordering a second key is $10.00 sent in with the card....

Yep, installed mine today and will mail out the card tomorrow. They look pretty good.

Curious, where you going to put the "key". I've put mine in the pocket on the door, but might consider relocating them.

Chris,

I am going to put mine in the trunk. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to put it away where it won't rattle or get vacumned out at the car wash! Then I'll put the second key somewhere else so I can forget two locations..

Chris,

I was in getting my wifes car serviced and the Parts Manager brought up a good point...make sure you either carry the registration card owner portion with you or have them enter the key number in your online OASIS profile... That way if they cannot find your key they can use one out of their "master" set.. beats not getting the work done due to a missing key..

They can do that eh?? Next time I'm down there...like inquiring about 4:10 gears<G> I'll ask them about it.

Chris,

Just peek at the screen and the comments fields now and then to make sure they don't log your inquiry about 4.10's

Where I took my Cobra the Service Manager had posted a comment that they were to check for TSBs and recalls and give me a print out showing what was listed or all clear.. This was after I "discussed" with them missing two that I found on the NHTSA website.. It also said they were not to allow the lot putz to give my car the "free" car wash and vacumn SVTs get with scheduled services.. lots of info can be added to the system...

After trying two different sets of McGard wheel locks, I finally choose the shorter shank version rather than the one that is normally recommended. They are about 1/8 inch shorter and look so much better than the standard length. They can be ordered from Summit Racing Equip @ 800-230-3030 for $19.95 plus $6.00 handling (Part #MCG-24194. Remember the shorter version makes it impossible for any attempt at trying to grab hold of lug, but it's also important not to use any type of lubricant when installing. ( Lubing makes it easier to remove.)

Chapel 1, you only get one key and necessary registration paper for McGard to retain on record your key number, however you can purchase extra key for $10.00. I did. The only advantage of purchasing from dealer is that they will always have a spare master key in possession in the event you loose yours. I guess that's why they think their entitled to charge a higher price.

Chapel1,

The Part Number is F2LY-IA043-A is what I used, not F2LY 1A 043 A31 that first 1 is a I at least on mine...and

BTW When I called McGard Customer service, prior to buying at my dealer, I was told to use the Cone Seat Lock 24130, which is the application for the 02 Grand Marquis. However, they were not sure it would fit properly so I went with the ones in hand to avoid the hassles of mail orderering a "should" fit..

Just make sure to register it with McGard no matter where you buy it... then you and / or the dealer can call in and get the key number if necessary....

I purchased a set of the McGard wheel locks (24130) from PEP BOYS and they fit perfect, I took one of my lugs off the car with me to compare at the store and its the same fit and size, you can't even notice it on the car unless you look real good, this is what should have came with the car in the first place. I sent my registration in already and I ordered an extra key and pouch to store them in.
