After spending 28 days in the hospital we got my mother home tuesday. She was getting stronger and beginning to get around fairly well. We went to my sister's home today and had dinner, exchanged gifts, and had a wonderful visit. Then, with all her children and grandchildren around her,she closed her eyes and quietly slipped away. We're never ready to say goodby but I can't help but think of what a wonderful way to go, after a wonderful day with all your family around you. I hope we're all that fortunate !
My mom passed away a year ago Oct. 17, God bless you and your family. My prayers are with you and your family.

I'm very sorry to hear that, I can relate to a close call with my mom over the last month where the doctors thought she was not going to make it. It really hits home. My best wishes to you and your family.

I'm sorry for your loss. That is never easy.
You are correct though, she was surrounded by loved ones, and I'm sure she was quite satisfied as she slipped into sleep.

I'm sorry to hear about that! I hope everything turns out okay for y'all.
My grandpa passed away in a similar fashion, about 9 years ago. After fighting on the front lines of two continents during WW II, battling three decades of alcoholism and chain-smoking cigarettes - he was sober and cigarette-free for the last 20 years of his life - and seemingly surviving on mostly potato chips, fried chicken, and ice cream for his entire life, he golfed 9 holes one morning (walked them all) and then went home where he took a nap on the couch and never woke up. His wife of 50+ years (my grandma) and three of his daughters (my aunts) were there with him when he passed away. Oh yeah, and he kicked my A$$ in bowling just two weeks before he died. Tough old bastid!
Nobody looks forward to that day, but I figure if you're gonna go, that's not a bad way to do it.

So sorry Tim!!
My Mom's birthday is today and she would have been 69 but unfortunately she passed away in October 1974 while I was holding her hand!!! What a traumatic event for a "KID" of 27!!! :alone:
I know it's hard but be thankful she was there to make sure all of you were well and happy at Christmas before she departed!!!

Sorry to hear about your loss. Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. It is very comforting to know that she was able to spend her last hours in a happy setting surrounded by all of her loved ones. You are right -- may each of us be so fortunate.
In the coming years, this will be an important fact and reminder. My wife's mother passed under similar circumstances many years ago. The fact that her passing followed a large family gathering with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all present brings pleasant rather than sad memories.
My deepest sympathy and condolences. To be surrounded by family was a blessing.
My most sincere condolences! We all can only wish to depart to the heavens surrounded by our loved ones! It was a blessing for her. Stay strong for your family and may God Bless you all.
