View Full Version : They're Back Again .... and I am PO'd

Went out to the Marauder to go to lunch today and the dayum windshield wipers started to act up AGAIN. :mad2: This is the 3rd time. :(
The wiper motor has been replaced twice already under warranty. The last time was June 2006 less than 6 months ago. I am PO'd over this. It is dayum embarrassing. :o When the technician replaced the wiper motor last time, he said that he drilled a 1/8 inch hole to let the collecting water out. Well the sumsabiotch must be plugged up again and shorting out the wiper motor.
I love my Marauder; but this chicken***** problem is the result of a poor design or selection of inferior parts. It just plain burns my azz that something as simple as windshield wipers can be such a pain in the butt. This is :bs:
I am about 2,500 miles out of warranty ... but I am gonna get them to fix it gratis. It's defective parts and less than 6 months.

My last goround with this cost Ford $1800.00 as they had to replace A/C & raido items. Too much to post here and I have been to the Dealer more times than anyone for this fix.:)
Any one else ever posts about wiper issues I will also PM them:)

My car has lived outside all its life, rain and snow included, and I've never had a WW problem.
I'm not bragging, just showing that I don't think the probelm is inferior parts or poor design.

No I don't think so either RF. However some of us are really troubled by this wiper/light issue:mad:

I was just venting some of my frustration with this wacky wiper issue that seems to have hit quite a few of us .... some on multiple occasions. If its not parts or design ... then it must be ghosts or goblins. BDJ thinks it might be my wiper module. That's next. :D

Send me the PM. I had ther wiper problem a few months ago so I pulled the fuse. A week later we had some rain so I replaced the fuse and the problem seemed to go away. Well just this week, the wipers are on full time with the switch off. Sometimes they sit at rest then start creeping up the windshield.
I hope to have my winter beater on the road so I can get my car to the dealer.

I've also never heard this on any 03 CVPIs. Is this only a Marauder problem?

I believe that in addition to replacing the wiper motor, my dealer replaced the wiring harness for the wiper motor with an updated part. I have had no wacky wiper syndrome since the repair, maybe a year ago.

I also had this happen to me a few months back.
It seems to be a Panther problem and not just Marauders.
My dealer said they were changing wiper motors as often as underwear.
I asked if they ever considered turning them inside out...

I agree with Charlie. I mean, basically the MM is the same as the CV's and GM's. I don't see how it could be possibly defective parts?

Paid out of pocket to get mine repaired a couple weeks ago. There is a updated wiper motor and pigtail that allegedly corrects the problem. After reading this I'm contacting the dealership for the area rep's number. The MM was only 1400 miles out of warranty, maybe they'll pickup the repair???

Well, the Bluerauder is in the shop today. Hopefully, this wiper problem can be put to rest once and for all. It's plain embarrassing :o On top of that, I had to steal the wife's Freestyle for the day and she ain't real happy without her wheels on her RDO.

Well, the Bluerauder is back home and the wacky wiper problem has been corrected for the 3rd time .... sure hope the 3rd time is a Charm.
Total bill was $25.96. But that was for the oil and filter change and topping off the fluids. :D
Wiper motor and wiring was replaced "gratis" under a redo of TSB 05-04-09/warranty terms since the last fix 6 months ago was not applied properly.
Parts listed:
6W7Z-17508-AC Motor A 137493
3W7Z-17A477-AA Wiring 812722
Service advisor told me that the wiper module and the multi-function switch checked out as OK. Let him know that I'd be back if the wiper problem acted up again. ;)
