I am going to install my mechanical oil pressure gauge this weekend and would like to know the best path to take coming through the firewall.
I would prefer to NOT drill a hole, but rather use a path already provided. Is there such a thing? The damn fittings on the braided line are about 3/4 of an inch, point to point.
I suspect those of you who removed your engines would know what opportunities lie on the firewall.
Care to share your experience and help out a fussy S.O.B.

Is there any way I can talk you out of using the mechanical unit? The electronic ones with sending units are oh, so simple to install, and give you all the information you'll ever need.
Meanwhile, you should only need a hole in the firewall large enough to pass the tubing, and put the ferrule and nuts on, later, after you've determined how long the tubing needs to be once you've determined how to route it, kink free.

Mike,
No way Man ! Can't talk me out of mechanical.... I just HAVE to be different (and difficult). Always used mechanical while racing and it is the only kind I really trust 100% of the time.
My braided line is pre-assembled. Have to get the whole thing through.
Just wondering if there is a pre-run route I can use (wiring harness?)
Where does everyone run their boost lines????

There is a Groment, on the Pass Side. It is under the carpet, towards the front of the car.
It MAY work for what you are wanting.

You can also try the accelerator cable grommet, might be enough room.

I've run 0 guage wire thru this one. It's a W grommet. Split it in the low part of the W. Send thru a chaser (coat hanger) and pull your line thru.

Good point about safety. I will keep that in mind while exploring the options.
