How does this look? Got them from karkraft (url is posted somewhere in these forums) and had them powdercoated, then sanded off the raised letters and fins.

They really look good. How much work to sand them off? Powder coating is some tough stuff.:coolman:

I need to order those...

Where is that part number...I hit their site once, a confusing mass array of stuff for sale...Oh hell, I'll just call them.

Kudos there Fordnut, nice job.

Got this from their website:
$129.95 pair, complete with neoprene gaskets #KK4632

The powdercoating was tough to sand off, but I told them what I was planning to do and they tried to put it on thin. I wanted them to mask the lettering and fins, but they said it would look better this way due to the rough edge formed when masking is removed.

Thanks FN, now I have a new project.
If it was you who sanded them down...what tool did you to do so?

You could just draw file them with a single cut mill file.

I used 80 grit with a sanding block. Added the sanding block after I hand sanded and put some minor scratches on the surface that needed to stay black. The block helped cut faster but required a circular pattern to keep the surface smooth. Took about 20 minutes per. Thinking about clearcoating so the fins don't oxidize over time.

clearcoating is a good idea

I was thinking about getting the Silver Cobra Valve Cover Gaskets and coil covers. Does anyone know if they will fit? I just hate the plain black valve covers.

I have the coil covers also, jet hot coated the valve covers silver. I was going to have them polished, but thought jet hot would be easier to take care of.

What are our valve (cam) covers made of? they look like plastic! Love the coil covers.

Ford Nut You taking orders yet??

No orders yet. It would prpbably be a bit pricey due to the amount of time involved. Actual work time is about an hour, but add an hour to take them to the powdercoater and an hour to pick them up, plus the powdercoat job, plus the purchase price, then consider it's just an appearance mod with no HP gain...

I'd also like for them to be seen in Ennis before I try to do it for anybody else because there are some minor blemishes that some perfectionists may complain about.
