From the side view, it looks good, but the front and rear view is "butt ugly". Too much of a 300C clone.

Now that you mention it, it looks almost exaclty like the 427 but with a different front end. Maybe they used the same car. What a bunch of cheapos. Needless to say Im very disappointed in Ford right now.

The side view looks pretty good, unfortunatly by the time Ford comes out with this, the high beltline 300C style will probably be falling out of favor, and Ford will once again be a day late and a dollar short. They need to to start being a leader again, like when they came out with the first Taurus, instead of playing it safe by being a follower.

Those aren't actual photos of an actual car i don't think. They however do not appear to have a high belt line like the 300/Charger/Magnum. Those cars appear 'FAT', or like Herkel's pants.

Had Ford produced the 427 concept, which this most resembles, no one would be saying this concept loooks like it is derived from a Chrysler 300.

Ford isn't yet saying it will produce this car either though! If it does it will be late on bringing a large sedan based on the 427 concept, not a 'follower'

It does look alot like the 300C. and a 5.0? give me a break. Give us a real 7.0 litr e engine. Long ago I decided the marauder was my last ford. They just aren't original, how many times are they going to re-release the mustang.

supposedly that draws on the new mustang platform, but i wouldn't call it a Mustang re-release.
What would make it any more original?
The big question is, is it just another concept, or will Ford actually build it/similar RWD sedan?

Another question might be, is Trilogy working on a S/C for it for Ford?

They said it was a "variant" of the 4.6. ok So they stroked their existing engine, NOTHING NEW. If we stroke our motors we will have a 5.0 cammer basically. Its based off of the mustang platform, ok so here they stretch out the frame and throw four doors on it. And the icing on the cake is that they imitate the 300C with high doors/ small windows. The nose is square a la 300C as well.

What would make it more original? Lets have that new Hurricane engine or typhoon or whatever it is that was 6.0 liters. I do give them credit for the 6 speed but lets have an autostick feature as well. Lets have some unique styling that isn't currently in a competitors production vehicles.

I wonder if the trend towards the fat front ends is due to the new European car/pedestrian crash standards? I remember reading a year or two ago about a new standard that would require front ends to be flat, tall and thick, the thinking is that would make it less likely for an injury to pedestrians if you ran into one at low speeds. The safety organizations didn't like the sharp front ends of some cars.

I recall something about that as well.

Maybe there will be room under that hood for a 5.4l with S/C

Doesn't look like there will be much rear headroom. If that's the case, it's a 'no go' for all the LEO's out there.

Well lets see, Chrysler cabin body style, Mustang-ish hood scoop, Chevrolet front end styling, and lets top it off with some Audi wheels.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reprinted a story from the Chicago Tribune about this car. Here are some interesting quotes.

The Interceptor is built off a stretched version of the rear-wheel-drive Mustang platform with a 13-inch longer wheelbase, at 120.8 inches, and 14-inch greater overall length, at 201.6 inches, than the pony car.

"We think there's room for more rear-wheel-drive cars at Ford and will gauge reaction with this concept as we do the rounds of the auto shows."
"They [Chevy] won't be alone in RWD performance cars. You'll start to see people wearing Ford and Chevy hats and the rivalries return again."

Here is the original article from the Trib.

Unless Ford takes to heart all the negative comments from 'Ford' guys, and just says 'Why bother'
