I pulled my IT20 Denso's last night, to check their condition, 18K of street, highway and occasional strip/WOT operation. No obvious problems with the car's performance but this is my first experience with Denso and I was anxious to see their condition.
I'm pleased to report the plugs were all fine, a tan color, no carbon build up, electodes + and - looked great, even under a magnifiing glass. Plugs were all tight in the block, a little residual dampness on the threads, all the plugs even the dreaded #8 were clones of each other. No beads or discoloration on the firing end.
The only thing that I saw that was of concern was that there was a band of reddish discoloration were the ceramic insulator fits into the metal body. My stock plugs with 15K miles exhibited this trait but to a much lesser degree.
I showed them to my mech and he said no problem as there were no arc tracks or ruptures. All 8 plugs had this to the same degree.
Conclusion: Denso's work fine and last a long time.
I'll run my stock plugs for awhile and see if there is any performance changes, prolly can't tell anyway. Then I'll but the Denso's back in.
