I'll have to work on the pics some more. Had to trim them down due to file size limits and must have cut them down too small.

Looks gooooood, where did you get the striping?

From what i can tell, looks like your going for that old school batmobile style. Just need the flames out the back and the bat on the doors.

Flames are next. Was just talking to the wife about a flame job on her silver one. Maybe in mystic extreme purplene? NOT!

Here's a bigger pic, hopefully it works better.

Bill,
I've got a friend that does signs, murals, and stripes on cars. He made my inserts and tape of matching reflective material. I'll check what brand he used next time I see him. One reason it shows up so brightly in the photos is I used the flash, and man do they reflect! Can't wait to see headlights hit them at night.

That's pretty nice, and different. I personally like it. Too much color for mine though.

Might as well do the calipers now ehh?

Wonder if I can find matching reflective red paint for the calipers?

VERY NICE! Looks goood! Although personally, I'm going for the all-stealth black-out look, your car looks great!

I have seen various owners w/ tinted taillights. Are these custom made or mfg? Thanks.

I like it, and a little red on the calipers and cam covers would finish it off nice, except those flames would really be a Bad--ssed addition that I doubt anyone has the balls to do.:D

It reminds me of the batmobile, and the old 80's Monte Carlo SS. Personally I like the way it tuned out.

OK...At the risk of being contraversial/going against the grain, I don't like it. Having said that, it looks like a very well done, professional job.
I just have this idea that these cars are supposed to be all black. I don't even like the silver and blue. I almost didn't post this but I think we're all pretty broad minded here.
Sorry. (I know I'm going to wear it for this).

I agree. I, too, am a purist at heart. :)

Just like to try and personalize it a little. Want to share ideas with the rest of y'all, some will like and some won't but that helps keep it interesting.

Taillight lens info here: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=111972&sortby=&sortorder=

Directedby: thanks for the batmobile pic, but I don't think I'll do the wheel centers in red! But the zoomie pipes would be cool!

Ford nut: nothing to worry about. If they dislike your paint tricks think what they will do a half roof in vinyl :flamer:

I think it looks great, Fordnut!

This will be just another example of personalization that we'll get to see in Marauderville, TX. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

Fordnut, you might want to see if 57 can change this to your car, http://www.mercurygallery.net/mmnet/watermark.php?file=500/8882003_Batmobile_Framed.jpg

Holy Sheepdip, Batman, it is the masked crusader.

Although not for me, I think it looks great (does that make sense?). I think the color choice is spot-on for this kind of thing.

Cool, Cool

I think it's a great job, although a little bit too much color for my MM. I am thinking about going with some fine lined red pinstriping though. Should go well with my red bumper inserts. Thanks for sharing some more custom work with the rest of us.

I am happy you all like it, and i too think the quality of the work displayed is good.

But you all think it looks like the batmobile.

Well, i am looking for Mr. T to climb out with all of his A-Team friends. Does anybody remember the A-Team Van! Didnt it have a red stripe on it?

EasyRhino
06-11-2003, 11:43 AM
Actually Batman was in my era, and the A team was not. That accoutns for me :P

I don't really think it looks like Batman, was just jumping on the bandwagon. I do think it's cool looking, just not my style. :)

Nice job though, looks perfectly straight.

Bill,
Finally got around to checking the label on the box. The striping is from Avery Dennison Spartan Division, it is called Prostripe Premium Film, RF60003 Reflective Red, 1/4" x 50', #2169. There are several different shades of red available, but this was the deepest red that I could get in reflective with a matching color for the wide sheets to cut the letters out of.

Reminds me a lot of my old, now deceased, 1985 TurboCoupe. Only thing missing is the flat gray paint under the red stripe.

I like it. I never was never strongly in favor of the complete police car look. (I've never yet heard anyone say that they saw a great looking police car.)

But, that's just my personal opinion.

Yikes that looks ugly! Next it will have neon on it. Leave the car more stock and less shlock!
