View Full Version : Boost Guage Install Question
I just installed my F.I.T. kit and I just added a real oil guage along with matching boost and volt guages. My volt and oil guages are working good but my boost guage stays at zero all the time. How should it be hooked up? Maybe I did something wrong.

you put it wrong or something, you should be getting some kind of reading... which vac line did you use?
I used the vaccum on the intake manifold. I used the T fitting and the other end is connected to the vaccum from the procharger.

I don't have a procharger so I dunno what you men by vac to the procharger... I would suggest that there should be a line comming off your bybass valve try that one and see what happens

The engine vacuum can be picked up between the upper intake and the fuel rail pressure sensor reference. See the attached pic below. The bottom of white 'T' is where my boost gauge and bypass valve lines are tied in.
Assuming the boost gauge is mechanical, it should have come with a poly tube that connects to the back of the gauge with a compression fitting. Sometimes the compression nut can be tightened down too much and compress the ring enough to pinch the tube shut.
Try disconnecting it from the vacuum and blow into it and have someone watch the gauge to see if the needle moves at all. If it doesn't, disconnect the tube from the gauge and see if you can get any air through it at all - maybe its pinched behind the firewall somewhere.
You can pick up spare compression rings at Ace Hardware and such. I think they are 1/8", but take your tubing with you to verify.
thanks for the pic....and the info I'll give it a try

If you do blow into it and you get a reading on the gauge... it is only fair to tell us what the highest reading was....
I got it working I had it hooked up to the wrong vaccum source. I blew into the guage and got a reading but we'll leave it at that.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. Yeah sucking the proper vacum and blowing sometimes works well, .
