I have the 2003 manual, but it does not show any schematics, much less the one that would tell what color wire goes to the PW circuit!! Does anyone have such an animal?? Is there only one wire into the drivers door that would be considered 'the' source wire?? ( I want to modify circuit to allow 12v all the time to windows, much more convenient)
Also, my passenger front window is slow, has anyone been successful at lubing w/o taking door apart?? What type of lube??
Thanx TP

Thomas:
If you go over to CVN and do a search, I've read a lot of posts there about slow windows, and the pros and cons of lubing w/o taking the door apart.
I understand your unspoken reluctance to bring it back to the dealer...

RF, not sure what CVN is, I did 'search' using 'window' and found nothing. Any more clues??
Thanx

my PSW is super slow too. I can barely "roll em up kids" when I drive through the bad parts of town.

If he's reluctant to take it to the dealer he should be even more reluctant to seek advice on that site, unless it's from the tech moderator John.
If the windows are slow, it should be taken to the dealer.
The issues of slow windows on CVN usually are referring to mid '90s Crown Victorias, that have seen a lot of use.

Good point RC. not to take sides. I think one should start with the dealer first? Then go seek help from other sources. IHMO
RF I know what you mean about dealers.duh. even the car shakes when I get close to the lot>>>>

RC:
That IS a good point...I was bone-tired when I wrote that; I just remembered seeing all the posts, but forgot they mostly referred to old CVPIs that had, as you put it, "seen a lot of use".
Thomas:
I interpreted the way your question was worded to mean you didn't want to go the dealer route, but I should have stuck to my first thought, which was to tell you to take it back to the dealer.

Hey guys...my first post here but I've been lurking for awhile. The subject got my attention so I had to jump in.
The Panther platform has definitely had some issues with power windows...and not just the well-worn cars on CVN! :) My 2000 Crown Vic had a slow driver's side window from the time I bought it. I removed the door panel and lubed everything, but it really didn't make any difference.
I lived with it, but when it got to be cold out (under 40 degrees) it got the point where the "one-touch" down feature would only bring the driver's window down about 6 inches before it would just stop. I took the car in just before it went out of the 3/36 warranty. They put a new window motor and regulator in and it works great now. Whether the problem is specifically with the motor or regulator, I'm not sure. From what I've read, I think the regulators tend to be the problem. I have spoken with other late-model Crown Vic owners who've had the same experience.
I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer will tell you "it's normal" or "they all do that" if you take it in right now. It will probably just get worse over time like mine did, so you can always wait to take it in when it's obviously a problem (and still under warranty).

Excellent input Greg, I plan to lube myself, and a last resort is the dealer. I never take car to shop if I can do the work myself. My previous daily driver was '84 442 that only went to shop once in 19 years, and that was because I do not have R134A leak detector.

My passanger side window is very slow also, in fact it has stopped half way sometimes.
It seems to slow down when it is half way up or half way down, but it starts out strong, weird.
I haven't taken back to the dealer yet because it's a 35-40 minute drive oneway and would be a pain in the *** if they had it keep it for a day or more.

I had this problem on my 2000 GM, dealer replaced the Regulator & Motor in both fronts and fixed it. No problem on my MM. :)

I think a slow window usually = a weak power window motor. IMHO.

No schematics anyone??

My '97 ThunderBird driver's window had a major problem on cool and humid days...but would NOT do it for the dealership! :mad2:

My '01 CVPI has a slow rear window on the driver's side...also all the windows get really slow if you try and run'em all up at the same time or even just the two up front. My car only has 27k miles and was never in service. Seems like I will be talking to the dealer before my 3/36 is up.
