But not out....I have yet to see the adjuster but here it is I was traveling down a main street with two lanes in my direction and two lanes going the other direction and a center turn lane.....I was in the right hand lane when the driver of the other vehicle a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer was comming out of a parking lot and never stopped comming out of the lot...we collided.....another 8 or so inches And I would have missed her....here is the dammage to the Marauder...just click the pics

You'll recover from that one. The Headlight and turn signals are available on ebay.
I paid just $65 for the headlight just a few weeks ago and it was a perfect fit.
The bumper cover will be the most expensive.

I hate seeing that.

Many of our MM's have seen much worse, and returned to their glory.

Glad there were no injuries.

Keep us posted.

Dont think so...but nice try....its just cosmetic and I would go homeless before I sold her...it's mostly cosmetic anyway...so she will be the same. There is one way I would sell her and thats by accepting the insurance money if, God forbid, she ever gets totalled:(

Sorry to hear about the damage to your MM. Glad that no one was hurt. I always try to anticipate the dumbest things that people can do and then wait for it to happen. Folks pulling out from side streets or parking lots into traffic without looking is a "gimmee".

Does not look to bad. Looks like ya just need a header panel and the

headlight/turnsignal. That bumper cover it not bad at all and can be

repainted. Hope everything works out for the better :(

Is the wiring good? BTW, Don't get aftermarket headlamp assys. I have a left one and it doesn't adjust up enough.

Looks like the head light wire is good, the plastic piece for the blinker is gone but the wire is still intact and connected to the broken bulb, and the side marker still looks intact and just missing the bulb. I am sure they wont cover my Silver Stars but I will inquire. I will insist on factory parts....for sure!

SID210SA
01-22-2007, 06:10 PM
The headlight was still inplace, it just got pushed back and broke the back of the headlight assy. So I just unpluged it and removed it.

This pic you can see the side marker, blinker and strobe wiring. The strobe wire had does not appear to have any dammage, while the blinker light is pulverized yet still connected and the side marker light appears to just be missing a bulb.
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/3/9/4/3/accident008_thumb.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/showimage.php?i=7024&c=3&userid=3943)
Now if the wiring is dammaged, it looks as if it could just be unplugged and get a new one that just plugs here.

Why are you paying for the rental? When you called your insurance company you should have gave them her ins. info. Then her ins. would be paying for the rental.

One time I had my old P/U in the shop because some idiot were I use to work hit it with a company veh. Well I had any Escort wagon for a rental, on the company's ins. bill, can you say four wheeling. When I turned the escort back in there was grass stuck in the springs and McD's trash in the back. The rental agent told me there would be a clean up charge. I told him to put it on the bill.

Update:
I went and checked on the Marauder yesterday and say the front from the headerpanel foward is removed....it is supposed to go to paint today so hopefully it will be ready by Friday.

I also went and picked up the old bumper, and have thought about mounting it to my garage wall some how, but to do that I need to find some headlights and a grille. Until I have time to buff out the scratches on it, the bumper will sit in storage.

The other persons insurance is denying the claim so now I have to pay my deductible to get my car out of the shop. The claim is now going to arbitration which is set in April sometime....Not good news since I ordered my tune just two days before the accident so now money is really going to be tight....I just hope the arbitrators see it my way.

Pat

Mike;

It's prolly not unusual for Insurance companies to deny claims, look at all the poor folks affected by Katrina and Rita. (Say, aren't those the two girls in your avatar?)

The police report usually has a first car and second car in the write up, and the first car is the one totally, or most, at fault, according to my LEO family members.

Check and see in which order the parties are listed. May help you in arbitration.

Will do Pat, still waiting on the report...

Just make sure that the statements that you gave your insurance company are detailed and state very clearly what had happened. I used to participate on an arb panel, and the only thing we based our decisions on was the police report, statements, and pictures (SCENE PICTURES ALSO HELP ALOT). So the more detailed you are, and the better yours sounds, the better chance you have of a favorable decision.

SID210SA
01-31-2007, 11:26 AM
Yeah...I need to take pics of the scene...I went looking at local businesses for security cameras that may have been facing the area but no luck.

The Marauder went to paint on Monday to paint the bumper and header panel and blend into the hood and fenders and was was set to be put back together yesterday and today....Hopefully get her back by tomorrow or Friday!!!

SID210SA

Update: I got her back yesterday.....and she looks fabulous.....I highly recomend my body shop for customer care, service, and quality of work and attention to detail.....They worked hard to make sure I was happy....I made sure they knew the importance of this vehicle and they did a fabulous job. They always had an answer and never gave me the run around and whats more.....they stayed on the insurance co and got them to answer when I couldn't....now that is going above and beyond.

North Park Lincoln Mercury Body Shop....your are the best....and special thanks to Sandy my service writer....

So if your ever in the San Antonio area and you need body work done this is the place to go.....

Oh yeah....even more good news.....The other insurance co. is reimbursing me my deductible and reimbursing my insurance co for the rest of the dammages....and 3 weeks of a rental.....Final total on dammages to the Marauder was $3,524.06 not including the rental wich came out to a whopping $616.00 plus tax....for 22 days.

That's not good that it was fading that quickly. The clear they probably used is cheap stuff without good UV protection. Hopefully it's not going to keep fading every year like that.

I wonder if all persons who cause accidents say over $500 should have to go back and take a drivers test again, before they are allowed to drive again. Say, lose their license until they can reapply for it, take the test and pass.

Or do you think drivers school is the better thing?

SID210SA
08-22-2008, 07:15 AM
I would think that any accident is going to be over 500 bucks easy...there would be alot of people off the road if that was the case.....less traffic would be a good thing and maybe gas prices would go way down due to less demand....

sconut1
08-25-2008, 05:34 PM
I don't think that's a bad idea at all. I'm just not sure most licenced drivers here in Alberta could actually pass the test again!

Or is it just me? ....Still grumbling about the guy who drove through a yeild sign right in front of me 1/2 an hour ago.

That sucks, but it's not as bad as the ones I've seen on previous threads. I actually started getting a little dizzy seeing some of the other members pictures of their collision. It can easily get fixed and no one was hurt, but damn that sucks.
