Anybody installed the dampener yet? Got any pics or instructions?
I got mine but don't know exactly where it goes or how it connects. I guess I could go to the dealer and look at a GM but I thought I'd ask here first since there is such a wealth of info here.

Thanks

Better yet...did you buy it, or make the dealer give it up?

The speakers are GTO7525. I hope to do some comparisons to other brands in Ennis.

The glove box dampener is a cylinder that makes the glove box open in a slow, positive, controlled motion instead of just kind of sitting there. The GM/CV/TC has it.

I bought the dampener, about $18 from fordparts.com, never even tried to get the dealer to help. Wouldn't have done me any good based on the 300B/300A spare tire experience.

The dampener should come with an instruction sheet, but if not, open the door, you can press in on the sides of the box so the bumpers clear, and open all the way. look inside at the top and you will see two holes for the damper to attach. the string points to the right. There is a guide post for the string that goes a little farther to the right, and slides into a squarish hole. Then the string goes down to a keyhole in the side of the box. You will have to shave a little off the side of the opening to clear the string and the hook.

You might also want to disable the spring that they put on the hinge. If you unscrew the hinge from the dash, you'll see there are a couple of slots adjacent to the spring legs. give the legs a bend till they pass through the slot, and no longer apply tension.

The older doors were heavier, but the Owners manual etc should provide enough weight. If not, you can unscrew the door face, and apply some stick on wheel weight strips inside the cover where they won't be seen. Put them near the top and where they won't interfere with putting the face back on the box.
