I took the first place trophy in the winter handycap trap league at North Carroll Sportsman's Club, near Westminster, MD.
In each of the two 25 shot rounds one at 16yds and one at 24 I was high scorer in the Vetran class. I shoot my own handloads out of a 12ga Browning 525 Sporting. I'm very pleased, and wanted to share. :woohoo:

Congratulations Mike. You might have come across a friend of mine their, Mo Aguilar. He is a medically retired Baltimore cop that lives up there an participates heavly in trap and sporting clays up there and at Dug Hill Gun Club and Mayberry Gun Club.

Way to go Mike!
I've always wanted to try hand loading but it's always been one thing or another that's come up and prevented me from buying the tools and equiptment. One day I will though.

Congrats, as killjoy asked how many clays did you break? Thats nice that they let you shoot reloads, the 2 or 3 tournaments I was in they did not allow reloads. The best I have done is getting 25/25 in one round, I did that on two seperate occasions. I'm still trying for the 50/50 but that one is even harder.

I am going to report you to PETA for drastically reducing the clay pigeon population.

Thanks, I'll bring the shotgun when I visit Greenfield, next time, and would love to visit Hidden Haven.
There's a local Clay's course just three miles from here, "Hill Country", where I shoot once a week, plus bird hunting. It's why I use the 525 instead of a "regular" trap gun, although I have a couple of BT-99's that hardly ever get used.
The league was 9 weeks in all weather, and at night, which explains the somewhat low winning score, with the two lowest thrown out, explaining the seven for total. I broke 313 of 350 birds with most misses at the 24yd handicap line. By week 5 I had missed one target at 16yds.
Here's the URL for Hill Country: http://www.hillcountryhuntclub.com/Index.aspx
One evening, the fog was so bad I could see the hole punched through it by the shot column. Interestingly, I shot a 46 that night ....go figure.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I didn't know we had any clays shooters in the group. :)

Congrats Mike!
I just started to shoot Sporting clays this past year...making several trips down to Pintail Point and Schraders, both on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
It is a blast!
Now I just have to convince Marianne that I need a Bennelli!...:nono:

Hey Joe, come up here and shoot a round with me. I usually shoot the clays course at Hill Country,~ once a week. You're welcome to try out my 525, before you decide on the Bennelli. Lunch at the lodge, is, of course, my treat.:)
