Hey Logan!
If you still have your SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee...check out the latest Car & Lier...oops.....Driver magazine. (March '07)
It seems that Mr. Hennessey is now bolting a Turbo to the SRT8 Cherokee!!!
Resulting in a 620HP/650 FT-LB 6.1L Hemi V8!...:bows:
I'm not sure I'd trust Hennessey, but the 4831 LB AWD Jeep runs 0-60 in 3.7 seconds!!!
It'll outrun just about anything on the road except for a ZO6 Vette and the 911 Turbo Porsche.
Pretty Sick for an SUV.

Joe,

Now we all know that Jeep will not hold up under that kinda pressure. Nice to have and a nice truck, but it is still a Jeep.

I'm all for it, but like Big House said I don't think it'll hold up on a stock engine. Very cool!

Yea, and how much is this gem going to cost? Remember the Hennessey Vipers and how much those cost?

with a good tune the engine may hold longer than the drivetrain.:drive:

I think that the kit is around $27K + the Jeep.

That's ridiculous. Then again though, if you can buy an SRT, I guess you can afford to fix them and buy options for them. :poke:

The 600hp SRT8 is about $75K. I saw one at Barrett-Jackson. They don't put any different wheels on them, or any of the usual add-on doodads, so they look just like a regular SRT8.

On the Hennessey site they call it the SRT600. No prices for any of them. Too bad Hennessey didn't do a Marauder.

Not to me. I like the look of a stock vehicle with an extra 175hp to play with. Not that a stock SRTanything is a sleeper to those in the know. But it would be fun to take advantage of someone in a Vette who thought you had a regular SRT.

Call me a traditionalist. When it comes to Jeeps I believe that real Jeeps are built and not bought. My friend built his own bumpers on his CJ-7 out of steel pipes. They double as air tanks for air tools and refilling the tires after four-wheeling. That's what I'm talkin' about!

It's not a Jeep thing. You're right I don't understand. I'd "get it" if someone installed an AMC 401 and a set of 6:00-1 rock crawler gears in it.

The whole concept of the SRT8 makes as much sense to me as a Ferrari station wagon. Or a lift kit and 28" rims on a Marauder.

In what way is a lifted Marauder on 28" wheels any less silly than a Jeep that can't crawl over a curb? Both are equally silly in my eyes.

Jeep has a legacy. A heritage few automakers will ever have. It's a part of American history. They carved out a very successfull niche through popular demand. Jeep represents to me a way to get away from it all. Crawl through the woods and go camping. Climb stuff most think is unclimbable. A way to get to the perfect trout stream or hunting spot.

Until you've stood waist deep in a creek and winched yourself out , it's you that don't understand.

Being a C&D subscriber, I get to see the article. Actually it won't go over a curb without relieving itself of about $15K worth of plumbing and assorted turbocharger bits, just like a Marauder won't have it's rear valance remaining after the hill climb. But it's not about going off road, it's about outrageous excess, which is why most of us bolt useless stuff on our cars to make 'em ride like hell, deafen us, and gulp petrol in tank car gulps. .....ain't it great? :D
