Just wanted to give everyone a big Howdy Ho! Picked up my 2003 Marauder this past weekend with 41K miles on it and lovin it so far. I'm from Central Arkansas but please don't hold that against me. I've been on the Lightning Scene for several years now but having 2 kids has made me rethink my auto situation and after having a Lightning I wanted something limited edition, fast and room for the kids. So far my Marauder doesn't run like my Lightning but it drinks far less Gas and it rides a whole lot better. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and making some new friends.
The name that I picked on here is in response to three different people coming up to me last Monday and telling me my car looks like a Pimp mobile...:pimp: So I picked BigPimpin until I can think of something better.
Over the next several weeks I'll be scouring these boards to see what the best options for customizing and modifiying my Marauder is. Any and all opinions and ideas would be appreciated!
BTW, My Lightning is for sale in the classifieds section if anyone is looking for a clean well maintained Gen 1 Lightning. I'm gonna miss it but selling it is for the best.

Welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net. You've come to the right place for info on the Marauder.
The timeslips section will give you a good idea as to the state of the possible. Click on the "username" and scroll down to the list of major modifications. Many folks also include this info in their signature.

Welcome to the site & Congrats on Buying your Marauder!
Welcome and enjoy the site! There's beaucoup info on here just waitin' to be searched out. We had child number two in late '91. That was the end of two-door sports cars for us. Just too unsafe and unpractical. Six bigpimpin' four doors later, I haven't a regret. The MM will grow on you in a big way. Ignore the gutless (Compared to a S/C Lightning) bottom end and listen to the sweet 4-valve music when she's on a roll. In about four weeks, climb into a FWD car/minivan or a truck and see if you like it. Once you go MM, there's no going back!
Enjoy,
JMan

I took my Marauder to the local track this last weekend. It's a 1000ft drag strip. I ran off a best of 12.35 at 85mph with a 2.2 second 60ft time on street tires. The car is bone stock. I was fairly impressed. I thought I would be running 13's. It seems like it takes forever to get the thing rolling but it really comes to life mid-track. I took out two Mustangs, a souped up full size pickup and an old 60's something Impala. Of course I got my hat handed to me by one of those newer model Pontiac GTO's. Anyway, I'm thinking gears and or possibly a converter swap would really make this car come to life. I know a lot of you guys have posted what your mods are but what are the best logical steps. I can't afford an s/c right now so I'm thinking cold air kit followed by the items I listed above. Perhaps an agressive street tune would be good too. Opinions welcome but keep in mind I have two small children and one in the oven so I have to be gentle on the budget...:)

Welcome, somehow "Arkansas" and "big pimpin" don't chime together.
Hey, Big, welcome from southwest MO. Let the mods begin!

A tune and 4.10's will change your MM like night and day. And it is the right place to start. Dennis

+2 And this is coming from a guy who has so much bling & Go Fast on his Marauder it will make your head spin.... When you see Hotrauder's MM you will be amazed.
I did the K&N, then 4.10's, pulley and a tune all at the same time. My tune needs a little work to be honest, but I will tell you it really digs out of corner or at a stop light.. I bought my K&N, pulley, and tune used so I saved some $$ there all total including 4.10's and install of gears/tune/pulley around $1000 total. Well worth it.
Good luck with your mods. No right or wrong way to do things IMHO, so have fun, and keep us posted on your build.
Best regards,

Welcome, this is a whole new world here, I'm sure you will like it. I sure do. A tune from one of our Venders, a CAI,and gears are usually the 1st things done and WOW:burnout: what a difference it makes.
Have fun and just maybe we might run across each other at some of our events. There are the North Texas Marauders that are having a meet soon. There will be another meet in Lufkin at the Pine Valley 1/4 mile track and others also. Please check the forums for more info. I am a newbie here too, I plan on going to the meet in Lufkin, for a chance to get to know a few people and put a face to the names I see here on this site. Keep us informed of your mods and your times:beer: .
