Trying to park with my headlights off and engine on is anoying at night!!!

I was trying to keep my engine on as my wife and I were at a "look out point" The damn headlights kept coming on!!

How can I turn this feature off. HATE auto stuff.... When I want my headlights on I'll flip the damn switch!

With the headlight switch in the off position, turn off the car and restart.

Headlights don't seem to turn off or stay off if they were on previously.

Just a FWAG....

The E-brake was on, we were on a steep grade. Headlights were going into someones bedroom window at 3am...

I tried turning the lights off. Then turning the car off and restarting the car. Doing this keeps them off for about 10 seconds then the evil possessed lights come back on.

Its a good thing my first car in HS (Taurus LX) didn't do this, talk about a mood killer when you're signaling the cops "Hey I'm up here!!! Past cerfew too!"

I guess Marauder designers figured targeted customers would want to go to a motel ... :)

On a more serious note, i think there are a TSB about that switch. Yours might be in trouble as it is not the first time we hear they are erratic sometimes.

if you just put the lights to off instead of the auto spot, then they should be fine... I can turn mine off, I know cuz I've done it, I think I turned then to the parking spot, then to off and I think that worked too... maybe something's wrong...

Nitrous, Ours may be different because I have an 04', but I do not need to even turn my light switch all the way back to park(clockwise) and then to 12:00(off) to make them stay off. When I start her up for a warm up cycle, I turn it back(clockwise) 1 notch to off and they stay off. I am told this will not work that simply, but it has for over 2 yrs now. Being in WI, we do this regularly. I have a suspicion you have something defective on your car - light switch?? Obviously you should be able to keep the lights off with engine on. My 94' Marguis, 03' CV and the MM all do/did. Good luck and keep on parkin'.;)

i have the auto-on problem but I'll just turn them to manual and then back to OFF and they stay off. most of the time I leave them on AUTO though.

Yep, this ^^^ works fine for me. :D Sometimes they won't go off immediately because of the delay timer ... but you can adjust that.

Of course, you could always GET A ROOM !! ;) This is unless the 3 am Marauder jaunt is part of the fantasy experience. :)

If the lights do not turn on when switch is in the OFF position - and you do not have DRL - then there is something wrong with your switch or LCM

There is no 'auto-on' feature when the switch is placed in off. Only when placed in automatic.

If you are equipped with DRLs, the parking brake must be applied to shut the off.

Heres the trick, Turn the parking lamps on, then turn the switch to the off position. That kills the lights.

also, if you have your wipers on, the lights will automatically go on, its part of a safety feature. i thought my switch was broken too!!!

Just go under the hood next time and remove that big red cable sitting on top of the battery. That should definitely do the trick.

There's the problem. It was kinda rainy so I had the wipers on, that explains it!!!! I've never once put my switch in the auto position, straight up and off.

HS is Highschool that was 8 years ago and many women before my wife. I was just saying if that feature would of been on my first car back in the day it would of put a damper on things.

The wiper thing makes perfect sense....

Thanks!
