I spent many hours doodling that car when I was in elementary school. It looks like the same car that I had pictured in my head when I read a book back then called "Hot Rod Road". I haven't been able to find a copy of it since then, but it was in my elementary school library.

Speaking of this, I just saw the cars on display at Summit today. One is a Cobra replica with a DOHC Mach1 engine. The other is a genuine Holman/Moody 427 Thunderbolt A/FX. Cool car for sure.

Ive just been lusting after gassers lately. Ive always thought a 55 Chevy gasser, straight axle, fenderwell headers, sitting way off the ground was about the meanest looking car ever. One time I did see a 57 Ford gasser that looked great too. I remember one time I built a model of a 58 Edsel Ranger gasser (!) so its been a long time in the brain for me...

They are cool. When I was growing up my Dad drag raced a '55 with straight axle, one-piece front end, cutout fenderwells for the slicks, a bored & stroked 409. Talk about a torque monster, it twisted every driveshaft that was ever put in that car.

You have my vote, pick one and go for it. Makes me remember my first trip to Us131 dragway in 1964. What a blast!!!!!!!
