View Full Version : John's Stereo MTX Powered Ford Focus
This is one of our demo cars for the store. It is a 2001 Ford Focus with 5000 watts of MTX power capable of reaching 153db's!!!! It has Pioneer Premier's flagship Head unit the DEH-P880PRS and MTX Thunderaxe High-end seperates in Q-logic kick-panels. We removed the back seat to fit 4 MTX Thunder 9500 12" woofers in MTX slot-loaded enclosures. Located in the hatch area are 2 MTX amplifiers, 1 92001 class D mono amp pushing the 4 12's and a 7804 4-channel running the front and rear speakers. Wedged in between the amps and woofer boxes are 6 (not a typo!) 6 dry-cell EFX batteries paralleled with the battery under the hood making a grand total of 7 batteries all fed by a 160 amp Ohio Generator alternator. To add to the WOW! factor we installed 3 monitors, 1 5" in each door and 1 11" in the rear hatch. We have both a DVD player and an X-BOX for entertainment. If you are in the area please stop by and we will give you a demo.

Not bad dB for the power but let me telll ya.... About 7 years ago we did a sound vehicle for our store. It was a 1991 Geo Storm GSi. It Had 6300 watts of Esoteric L7 "cheater" amps. The source was an Eclipse 8 volt CD tuner. It had an externally-regulated Streetwires 200amp alternator regulated at 16 volts. There were four JL 15w3's in a diamond-shaped sealed enclosure which divided the front and rear of the car completely airtight. There were custom door panels with Focal mids and a single tweeter in the sail panel. The kicks were made to accomodate a Focal component set as well. The spare tire well had four Optima batteries and one more was under the hood. The car did 164 in outlaw with about 300 lbs of Dynamat.

Does it go to 11?
:D
Yea it goes to 11, no one has asked that for a while.
Steve the moniters are in the doors and on the rear hatch. we use the X Box to drag race when we take it to a show. The batteries are lined up in front of the mirrors and we dont know how to get a good picture. If you click on the pictures it zooms in and they slow down for better viewing.
The car would also play louder with custom built boxes, we used Mtx boxes to save space and show what can be done with factory parts. The car has played 154.6 db. Mtx thought it would hit 155 db. More dynamat and better sealing of the car would help a lot. When you get on this thing now it looks likt the windshild is going to self eject as the roof moves up and down a lot.

most amps go to 10. 11 is one more than 10. 10 + 1 = 11. ;)
