I got one of the few flights out of MSP this morning. Sitting in DTW right now. Roads were crap driving to the airport, saw three cars in the ditch in the first mile:(
Hopefully the runways and roads will be clear Saturday morning.
Stay safe!

Damm guys:( . I really do not miss snow or the lousy weather at all. 8 years in Florida now and I would NEVER move back to that weather. Maybe my age though:rolleyes: . Today here in SW Florida sunny and 83 degrees:D .
I love snow, Dang I dont drive my truck anymore! WHat am I talking about? This kinds sucks, Being disabled I dont got to go anywhere right now except give my girls a push down in their sleds! LOL I can assume that it sucks though... Does that count?

I had to drive from Des Moines to Ames today. Was just rain and no wind on the way up there this morning. On the way back the wind picked up and started to snow. Has just gotten worse since then, especially since the temps dropped and that rain froze.
Most of the major interstates through Iowa are now closed. From the Nebraska border to Iowa City (about 3/4 of the way across the state) for I-80 and most of I-35 north and south of Des Moines are closed. Blizzard warning through 6pm tomorrow.
Really sucks as I was supposed to take the car in tomorrow morning for the Flowmaster muffler install. And, yes, I was out driving the car in this today. Did wonderful as always. Heavy car, limited slip, traction control, and dedicated winter tires left many a front wheel drive car spinning on the ice this afternoon. And one full size 2wd truck with "dubs" and non-winter-friendly tires. My winter wheels and tires may not be very attractive, but they are very effective. Got home and asked myself what we were doing out in this tonight. Winds are up to around 40+ mph with LOTS of blowing snow.

Yeah, snow is absolutely awesome.... Except the part after the storm of dealing with the Salty roads and run off from the snow melting, that just plain stinks... Makes for one dirty 'rauder

My wife and I just got out of the TC Weds. night. Our connecting flight was coming in from Detroit and was late getting to Minneapolis. The snow started flying like crazy with lots of wind. But after a quick de-icing, we were on our way home! I was afraid we'd get stuck there, in the airport, but thankfully not!
Good luck all,
J

Yeah, you dfinitely got more snow up there than we did here in Iowa. We got the ice, some snow, high winds, and lots of blowing snow - in central Iowa, anyway. I think they got 10+ inches in Western Iowa.
Interstate 80 finally opened around noon today for the stretch from the Nebraska border to Des Moines.

My sister just came back to the Des Moines area from a trip to Ames and she said she counted 65 cars in the ditch. That is a 35 mile stretch of road that she counted that on. And I-35 from Ames to Minnesota boarder was closed for a day or so.

I got 19" of snow at my place thur and friday total. It took me 3 hours with the skid loader to get my driveway cleaned out. I had a drift by the back door of my house that was arm pit deap and Im 6'2". The best investment I think I have ever made was the purchase of the 3725Gehl Skid loader with a heated cab. I got it last fall and now snow plowing is fun. My dad used it on thur friday and sat to sub snow plow for a guy. He got $85 an hour cash to plow snow He put 30 hours on my machine so not a bad 3 days work.
