Road tunes for 30 somethings

I am aware (but do not posess) a cd that LML made for a number of folks on this site some time ago of 'road tunes'.

I am not yet able to burn cd's, although grandpa is...go figure...but this is my partial and on going list of tunes that should appeal to most 30 somethings. I am open to more track selections, and so far, this is what popped into my head this afternoon.

*I have ommitted country, which I like, and reggae, which I can't live without being a carib bum, and classical, which I grew up on as mom was a pianist.

This is strictly rock-n-roll, that is best enjoyed hammering down a highway somewhere, this case...Ennis.

The list is in two categories. Pre-Texas, and 'into' Texas.....

Pre-Texas:
Road House Blues-Doors
Highway Star-Deep Purple
Fuel-Metallica
This is a call-Foo Fighters
No Quarter (live)-Led Zeppelin
Southbound Pachyderm-Primus
Too fast for love-Motley Crue
Anema-Tool
Chemicals-Bush
Rhasberry Delta Jam-V-Joe Satriani
Rollercoaster-RedHotChiliPeppers (B&B across america Soundtrack)
Highway to Hell-AC/DC
Road Fever (live)-Foghat
Racecar Driver-Cake
Under my Wheels-Alice Cooper
Dreams I'll never see-Molly Hatchet
100,000 years-KISS
I can't drive 55-Sammy Hagar
Bat out of Hell & Paradise by the dashboard light-Meatloaf
Radar Love-Golden Earring
Rock-n-Roll Machines=the Godz

Into Texas:
Back in the saddle-Aerosmith
Cowboy-Kid Rock
Bullet to bite on-AC/DC
Keep 'em separated-Offspring?
May I have a talk with you? LG Stevie Ray Vaughn
Dum a$$ ******* boy-Jackyl
One step-Pink Floyd
Long time comin'-CSNY
Dry County-B-52'S
Gimme back my Bullets-Lynard Skynard
I'm bad, I'm nationwide-ZZ Top

The list shall continue....one can put alot of music on those cd/r's ....correct?

Actually all genre's are acceptable..."if it makes you happy...."!

Cruz, depending on length, you can usually fit about 20 songs on one CD. Just FYI.

If you really want one of those that I made before, let me know. I still have the makings for 'em, and some packing material left.

One suggestion that I just DLed recently, "Old Black Betty."

Do I detect a call for the re-emergence of LML Industries?

Well mister Atlantian....this was a rock-n-roll list, but if I had to do a country list, that would be one to base on. I have only done country music (being a yankee) for about 8 years. This would be how long I have shared my life with my father-in-law. His best friend owns country radio stations around the nation, including Texas. Therefore, when he visits, I had BETTER have the appropriate music emmitting from my many outdoor speakers and pa's.

And as far as Texas approval, they must do rock as well, as I found some of the best damn rock-n-roll stations in the nation in the big cities of Texas. "The Bone" in the DFW area simply rocks. We have nothing locally in the so called "rock-n-roll capital" that compares to the rock diversity I found down south. So trust me, many of the younger crowd will like the list as well.

PS: Tod, you need to add a few, we ARE driving you know, not napping on a greyhound!
I don't know names, but I see no Garth in the list, and a tune called "T is for Texas", and "All my Ex's", and .......

Constable! Nice List. Given a few days I would have thought of a few of those. I figure, some of got a 1000 miles to cover, it should be a BIG list.

CRUZ,

You know what they say in Texas..."we got BOTH kinds of music here.....Country AND Western" - Billy Bob's bar waitress from The Blues Brothers

And as far as "Rock"...you've obviously NEVER seen Hank Jr. in concert

As for Garth...he's an "Okie"...and folks from Oklahoma are only allowed to sing about Texas in the form of wishing they WERE from there:D

Dang, I must be OLD! I don't even know who a lot of those bands are! For an old timer like me, who remembers the 1960's muscle car days (before I could afford a decent car), nothing beats cruising in my girl with old 50's and 60's rock and roll. Especially the car songs--- 409, Little GTO, Shut Down, etc. Aaahhhh, those were the days! (Don't mind me, y'all will be old some day, too!)

Hey, I don't see any ZZ Top on ya'll's lists!

I'd rather listen to my car than the noise suggested here, but if music is important, you'll hear this stuff from my speakers. These are CD titles, not songs, and not in this order.

MasterBlasters--Victoria Police
Nahoo--Paul Mounsey
Off Duty-WAPOL
Live in the Rockies--Victoria Police
Nahoo Too--Paul Mounsey
Adiemus, Vols. I-IV--Karl Jenkins
Ladies From Hell--First Bn Black Watch
Highland Cathederal--Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
Music of the Gael--WAPOL
Notes from The Republic--Paul Mounsey
The Megantic Outlaw--78th Frasers
Uphold the Right--Victoria Police
Anything from David Arkenstone
Everything from Leonard Cohen

And I really don't care if anyone agrees or not, when you ride in my car, you get three choices...My motor, my music, or, get out.

What did you expect from a guy who like wearing a skirt...

Momma Don't let your Babies grow up to be Cowboys
My Hero's have always been Cowboys

I will caution you though.......you will go friggen insane if you listen to all of that before you get here.

In '04? We have to decide between moving up a grade, or, the studio, neither of which we are ready for yet, IMHO.

Jerry Reed?

If nothing else, this should be our anthem for the roundup.

I belive it was Jerry Reed from the Smokey and the Bandit music.

Might I suggest as well:

the Mercury Blues by Robert L Geddins/KC Douglas
"I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury.."

Heavy Metal (takin' a ride) by Don Felder, from the motion picture soundtrack - "Heavy Metal".

"It's like you runnin a race
on some high octane,
every time she lets the throttle go..."

I always play that as the 1st tune in any new car I buy. I think Alan jackson does a cover of Mercury Blues too.

Wish I could go to Texas. *sniff*

AC/DC - Back in Black and Diry Deads Done Diry Cheap
Queen - Best of, Two disk set
Deep Purple - Best of
Twisted Sister - Smash hits
Suicidal Tendancies - Prime Cuts (When I want to scare the ricers)
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son and PowerSlave
Kiss - Greatest Kiss
MeatLoaf - Bat out of Hell
Charlie Daniels - Greatest Hits
Golden Earring - Continuing Story of Radar Love
Warren Zevon:

Wow, there has been some major refreshing thoughts here. Well, I am not familiar with Mac thoughts....but I will when I see him in Texas. I love new things.

BTW: More songs Tod forgot (little lone the ones I forgot):

Heads Carolina, Tails Claifornia-JD Messina
All my Ex's-George Straight
Never smoke weed with Willie again-Tobie Kieth

As far as rock, yes I missed ZZ TOP and Meatloaf and......, shame....
