Seen them both, but I like Smokie and the Bandit a little more. Coming to America was awesome too, but I think it's from 1990 or like 1988.

'On the water front' and 'Captains Courageous' are both excellent.

Any movie with Bruce Dern is going to be fun too. I highly recommend 'The Driver'.

"The Hustler"-1961 and sequel "The Color of Money"-1986. Among the longest times between a (quality) movie & sequel. Also (MH350'll appreciate this one) Repo Man. I'd describe it, but my plate of shrimp is almost done.

I own it on DVD. I can't believe they made a collectors edition. I love it. I don't know about that band in that club. The singer sounds like someone who was in Black Flag before Henry Rollins. haha

Blazing Saddles is a real standout when it comes to old school movies. I also like this 1975 B rated western staring Fred Williamson.

MH350 --- I don't think so ..... release date was 11 August 1973. Here's the official movie info source >>>>> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069704/. I know because it was released BEFORE I went to Germany the first time.

Oh Well .... Here's 5 more for my list after Paul Casey reminded me of some like "Midway" ......

In Harm's Way (1965)
The Longest Day (1962)
Run Silent, Run Deep (1958)
Wreck of the Mary Deere (1959)
The Sea Chase (1955)

I have Blue Thunder, The original Gone in 60 Seconds, Vanishing Point, Johnny Dangerously, Bullitt, Mad Max, Road Warrior, Thunderdome, White Lightning, The Driver among others. These are recent but worth seeing and having in your library: "Ronin" and "Reign of Fire".

Zulu
Dang .... forgot "Zulu" too. Terrific movie. That's the one with Michael Caine where some 250 British soldiers held off about 5,000 Zulu warriors for several days. Based on a true story during the Boer Wars that resulted in the award of 12 Victoria Crosses for the action.

The BBC also had a 12 hour mini-series back in the mid to late 1980's called "Shaka Zulu" that was very, very good. It was a chronical of the life of Shaka. As a series, I don't think it qualifies as a "movie". So, I'll give it honorable mention.

Zulu, awesome! Also don't miss They Were Expendable. Pretty much take almost anything made from the mid 80's to now and :flamer: Also kinda liked On Golden Blond, The Blonde, and a few of those. Again, older is better.

I stand corrected, the original did come out in 1973 and the second one came out in 1979, wasn't worth a second watch to me though. Vanishing point is great, I got that one too. It's mentioned in the sound track how American Graffiti got the idea of a DJ though the movie because of Vanishing Point.

The answer would depend upon the mood. If you ask me my today's ranking of "old" movies - more than 20 years old, I would list
- 2001 Space Odissey (still a mystery for me about its meaning)
- The Gipsy (french movie starring A Delon - you might like it if you liked "French Connection")
- Borsalino 1 (starring the same A Delon)
- The Sicilian Gang (again A Delon and again a french movie)
- Ben Hur
- Mad Max
- Godfather
- The shining
- The Day of the Jackal (the original one that you should watch- B Willis just played an excellent remake in "The Jackal")

But the list would probably be different if I should answer tomorrow...

Probably not on any other lists, but the movie I've seen the most times (even watched it in Spanish once, and I don't speak Spanish), is:

The Thing From Another World (1950's sci-fi)

Crisp dialog, eerie black/white photography, likeable (and unlikeable) characters, scary as hell for it's day.

First film role, I believe, for James Arness as The Thing.

I guarantee you will squirm in your seat, and forever fear your dentist:

"Both the novel and the film are known for a graphic scene in which the Nazi dentist tortures Babe by drilling into his teeth, without anesthetic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anesthetic), and repeatedly asking the question, "Is it safe?" Babe does not know what the question means nor the identity of his inquisitor. The dentist offers him oil of cloves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_of_cloves) as positive inducement to cooperate."

Robert Redford is cool, he plays a Puch moped riding librarian that evades CIA assassins. They can't figure out why he keeps escaping and killing everyone they send to kill him. One explanation, "he reads a lot"! :
